Remember the official Justification for Invading Iraq?
On March 18, 2003 The President of the United States sent a formal letter to both the Senate and the House justifying invading Iraq. The letter briefly states that he was given the authority to do this by "section 3(b) of the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002." There were two reasons stated which were essentially:

1) Iraq is a threat to national security and is in breach of UN resolutions. We now know (and of course many of us knew then) that this is completely false. There was no threat and there was no breach of UN resolutions because there were no weapons.

2)Iraq is aided the terrorists who committed the atrocities of 9-11. This has also been publicly accepted (by Bush himself) as false.

No weapons and no links to 9-11 so therefore the entire justification for the war has been PROVEN false. All related scandals are about when the administration that chose this war knew their stated reasons for it were false. DSM shows it was April of 2002. Joe Wilson was attacked for exposing their knowledge that their was no legitimate Nuclear threat. Through the fall of 2002 IAEA and the UN inspectors were declaring that there was no threat from any weapons. There has never been any evidence presented ever that there was a connection between Sadamm and 9-11.

Nowhere in this letter does it state that the mission was to overthrow an evil dictator for simple humanitarian reasons. Nowhere does it state that the mission was to liberate the Iraqi people. Nowhere in this letter does it state that America must bring Democracy by force to the region. The mission was to remove weapons that did not exist and avenge something that did not happen.

That is why Casey Sheehan died. That is why soldiers died yesterday, died today, and will most certainly die tomorrow and all tomorrows that they occupy a once sovereign nation. And that is why he will not answer any questions as to why this has happened and continues to happen. The lies no longer stand up to the incontrovertible facts but he is too much of a coward to utter the truth. So he hides in his regal pig farm while a mother bakes in the Texas summer sun. Unfortunately for Bush and his gang they create more Cindy Sheehans daily and they will keep asking these questions until all of our sons and daughters come home from this evil war born of lies.

The letter's text is below and it's shamelessly on the White House's website.

March 18, 2003

Dear Mr. Speaker: (Dear Mr. President:)

Consistent with section 3(b) of the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002 (Public Law 107-243), and based on information available to me, including that in the enclosed document, I determine that:

(1) reliance by the United States on further diplomatic and other peaceful means alone will neither (A) adequately protect the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq nor (B) likely lead to enforcement of all relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding Iraq; and

(2) acting pursuant to the Constitution and Public Law 107-243 is consistent with the United States and other countries continuing to take the necessary actions against international terrorists and terrorist organizations, including those nations, organizations, or persons who planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001.

Sincerely,

GEORGE W. BUSH

1. That in and of itself (disinformation)
is grounds for impeachment, add to that all the other evidence and you can add treason to the charge.

2. Amen to that
We can only hope that indictments occur. That is the only way to get other countries to ever trust us again. Why isn't there more outrage from the members of Congress that were lied to?
