On Ed Schultz, Cindy said the family members are from her Husband's
side of the family who are big Bush supporting Republicans - the letter posted on Sludge.

She said they begged them not to vote for Bush in November because they consider him responsible for Casey's death. She said that since they voted for Bush in the election, they (I assume she means herself and her husband) have not spoken to them.

She just said this on the Ed Schultz show.

I believe she said some additional things that I missed so if anyone heard anything else, please add it here. Thanks.

3. Thanks for posting- not surprising that Sheehan family is split over Bush
Seems like most American families are bitterly divided over Bush so I am not surprised. Seems to me though that it doesn't diminish Cindy's position since after all she is Casey's mom and so many other families have been split because of Bush.

6. So much for Mr. "Uniter"
I know this whole mess since 2001 has had me and people I care for arguing vehemently. The thing is that they are finally starting to agree! If only...

12. My In-laws and I just avoid the topic. They are Faux watchers so
I don't think we could have a constructive conversation because their idea of "reality" is Bush propaganda. Who knows, maybe their views have changed somewhat but I don't know about it yet.

After the election, when visiting their house, I saw a new W or Bush bumper sticker sitting out - they don't put those on their cars - just flag stickers in the back window. I noticed a lot more W/Bush stickers after the election and I think that is because they sent new ones out AFTER the election.

It is hard to have a conversation with someone when there are no longer any "facts" that all the parties can agree to.

15. It's like they do live in an alternate reality
Like the other day, when my water aerobic classmate made a comment about the "liberal media!" I just can't believe anyone can be that taken in by repug talking points! They are so damn stupid! But just you try to clue them, they get all up in arms at you. We're in a sad state of affairs...

5. how horrible ...
... that they would bring their disagreement with her into the public forum. Cindy's son is dead, period. She wants peace to come from her child's death ... this isn't politics ... it's personal!

11. What's even more sad is that Sindy's som is also a grandson,
nephew, cousin...of these complainers!

I can understand family political differences, but I don't understand how every family member isn't hurt by the death of one of them. How can they support Shrub and slam Cindy, the mother of this dead soldier, and believe they are being honest...even with themselves?

9. That's strange cause on
another thread today I thought the whole "letter from Cherie Quarterolo and anonymous family members" was Bogus.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4316546

Also someone claimed drudge had been rathered.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2001992

It's getting curiouser and curiouser.

But, according to what you just reported..there's bad blood between the relatives..thanks to the Crawford Coward and they are speaking out against Cindy at a time like this..they aren't "SILENT", anymore.

14. I and many other DU'ers have "close" relatives who would sell us down
the river...for a few Repug Coins or a chance at fame. Casey was HER SON and NOT her relatives SON.

Anyone who has had to deal with families "that aren't perfect" can understand what's going on here. And, it's sad that families will sell a member they don't agree with out at the drop of a dime or a hat.

But, it's life. Sadly....:-( And, this is what the Repugs have done to us...turned us back to the Civil War days...brother against brother, sister against sister...all because THEY DREW THE "LINE IN THE SAND."

23. A kick for those of us with "questionable relatives" who would sell us
Edited on Thu Aug-11-05 07:28 PM by KoKo01
"down the river" if offered half a chance. May our "terrible relatives" (whom we still love, misguided with compassion as we are) 'RIP' and in another life understand what they've done...but for now..Cindy and US have to deal with them.

When the Bushies and Drudge are "at the door," we know we've been "sold out" no matter who we are because THEY will PAINT US into a BOX.

Sad.

21. Hardball had the e-mail
and Melanie Morgan who wanted badly to paint Cindy as though she is excommunicated from some perfect family. They didn't really have the information to refute the letter, but left it sort of hang out there.

24. I wanted to add
Melanie acted like she was going to list all kinds of bad things like say Cindy starting Gold Star Families and being connected with Code Pink and Move on.org. Here I thought those organizations were pretty good.
Ever notice how all the nasty freepers pull out the Move On.Org argument? I don't get it?
