President Bush, You MUST MEET with Cindy Sheehan |
|
Do not base your decision on the political gains that could be had from a meeting. I can assure you, you will not gain any political clout with anyone at this point, even if you do meet with Ms. Sheehan.
Do not base your decision on staying the course. Staying the course is destroying America and destroying American families, one soldier at a time.
Do not base your decision on the premise of sending the enemy the wrong message. It is not the enemy who wants us out of Iraq. It is the American people and the Iraqi people. Have you not heard their requests? By staying in Iraq you are sending the message to the enemy that they can attack America and in doing so, get the U.S. to invade a country where they had no foot-hold before. Al-Qaeda has a strong presence in Iraq only because we invaded.
What you should base your decision on is that you have dishonored a dead soldier's mother. You called her "Mom" and used her son's death as a reason for staying in Iraq when America knows that is a complete and utter lie. You should base your decision on the fact that it is the WILL OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE that you address this woman, with respect, by giving her the one thing she needs: the truth for why her son, and 1800 others, died.
If you do not do this, I fear for the repercussions it will have on our country... already our country is severely divided. And it is your lack of honor and respect that will continue to divide the nation as those who continue to defend you will become bitter for having to defend someone without honor or courage. They will resent and hate the rest of us who have known the truth for so long.

He can't meet with her. He wouldn't have a script in front of him, or a teleprompter and she would probably see the wire in his ear.
If Bush meets with Sheehan, he would have to discuss Iraq and answer her questions. Unless he is allowed to bring Dick Cheney along (ala the 9/11 testimony), he wouldn't have a clue what to say. I don't think his arrogant smirk would play very well with her.
The administration cannot afford for him to meet with her and confirm everyone's suspicions: His clothes have no Emperor.
