Have you ever sent someone to jail?
"There is something fundamentally wrong
with Dubya's emotional wiring. A man who
is amused by executions was absent the day
God handed out humanity."

I sat on a jury years ago and voted to convict a man of rape. It was not a clear cut case. She was a stripper who accepted a "ride home" and who seemed more than willing to have sex with him. But he was a deeply disturbed individual who turned it into a bizarre episode of sexual abuse.

Nevertheless, when I had to say "guilty" and I saw him slump in his chair, knowing he was going away (again) for years, I felt very, very uncomfortable. It was serious business--nothing to laugh about.

Yet Bush can giggle and smirk as he sends people to their death.

1. Yes, I have and, like you, it's really an uncomfortable feeling.
I believe EVERY American should have to do jury duty - no excuses accepted unless it's for medical/disability reasons cause jury duty ain't for sissies. I will say in the future I will do everything I can to get out of murder and 3 strike cases - really don't like those and I've done both a couple of times. I have never sat on a jury where we sent someone to prison and any member of the jury smirked about it or even acted like they enjoyed it. I sure wouldn't want the dimson on a jury that I was serving on.

3. In a roundabout way.. I spent 18 months going to court
testifying and being ready to testify against the guy who held me up at gunpoint and robbed a bunch of other places the same night. I was the only one who IDed him and picked him out of the lineup.. After all that, he finally pled guilty and did 7-12 years:)

4. I've gotten someone arrested once. Bastard even resisted.

And when they took his mugshot, he didn't have a shirt on.

Knowing the guy, I have to wonder: Did they arrest him without a shirt, or did he ask if he could take it off for the picture?

I have the picture on a coffee mug.

Everything tastes much sweeter when I drink from it.

Anyway, they had to let him go a few hours later because the warrant had already been canceled by the time they arrested him.

5. Just read your whole post, and what you're talking about is different...
from what I'd been thinking of.

Next time, I'll read the whole post before responding.

Yes, it sounds like it wasn't easy for you.
