the triangle of land
The Lone Star Iconoclast has pictures from today at Camp Casey
http://198.65.14.85/News/2005/31-40/32news14.htm

One of them is the plot map for the property marking the "triangle" of land Cindy said they were forbidden to touch, park on, walk on, or put the memorial of crosses.

Unless I am reading it wrong, it looks like it says VANSAU.
VANSAU family of Crawford must be proud that these families had to put the memorials of their war dead in a ditch in the side of the road instead of "desecrating" their little weed infested patch of land. That they would not even allow a grieving mother to pitch her little tent there in the rain and have to move to a ditch.

4. Sick thought:
A generation from now, the Vansau family will make a fortune selling "Sheehan souvenirs" of her brave struggle. They will have a gift shop right across the street from the triangle.

25. That is a sick thought, but probably true.
bush's legacy=dissing Cindy Sheehan and the property owners who made her stand in a ditch profiting from it.

7. Just because the property owner colored a plat and said the property...
is theirs does not necessarily make it so. If I were there, I would still do a title search at the county courthouse. I wouldn't take those bitter people's word for it.

11. The Appr. District said that the triangle IS a part of the larger tract
so said the clerk in the map department that I spoke to

The survey above does not seem to show the easements, but sometimes the surveyor leaves them off if they are created pursuant to an ordinance.

16. The district DOT office would have the maps with right of ways shown.
Seems like everything is going ok, though, and there's no need to rock the boat as long as everything is peaceful there.

14. Typo on map
Looks like Prairie Chapel is misspelled on the map. If they could make that mistake, could there be others? Is this an "official" map?

wanted money to provide the addresses and phone #'s.

There's a Vansau in the Crawford Tx site guestbook, who used to live there.

Date:
08/03/2001
Time:
11:56:17 PM

It has a yahoo address for contact.

12. Looks like Laufenberg to me
I couldn't find Vansau in the tax rolls either. Funny, it looks like they are trying to say the whole yellow rectangle is Vansau property, minus the county road. But look in the middle, it says Laufenberg. Maybe the map or tax rolls are out of date, or maybe... Hmmmmm....

Anybody have a high res shot of that map? Does it have the numbers on it that would match up with the tax roll legal description or CAD reference number? It would also be good to look at the apparent right-of-way borders between the roads and triangle.

15. there's a Vansau on the Mclennan County tax rolls
Charles and Marilyn Vansau own 70 acres in the Brisco survey.

The market value is $224,000, but the property is on the tax rolls with an ag value (improved pasture)of $8400.

The tax office sends the bill to Clermont, Florida.

23. Out where I come from sections of land are often
referred to by the name of the original owner/homesteader. Perhaps they do that in Texas. I mean - the tax records don't need to be accurate and up to date cause everyone knows who owns what.
