1. mental illness at its finest
nearly indistinguishable from the "norm"

Well, it's a mental meme that has a life expectancy. When a virus is so virulent it kills the host before it can replicate, it's a bad darwinian design.

If the "host" doesn't want to be further sickened by this disease, we had damn well better mount an immune defense or else go down with these loons.

For starters I would propose that anyone who "looks forward to the end of the world" is espousing views that are indistinguishable from other terrorist organizations and need to be prosecuted and punished accordingly before they actually act on those views.

2. Yea....
I heard about that before - that Glorious George is doing all this to bring on the Rapture and rush Armageddon. If that is true then Bush and his Desciples, true to form, haven't thought this out very well - because they just might find themselves on the wrong side of it.

11. Yeah, none of them seem to wonder if *they* might be the legions of evil,
following the rise of the Antichrist.

14. It doesn't matter to them. That's why they don't care about BushCo's
lies and crimes. They want to force the End Times to come so they will support anything that brings about their goal.

Can you imagine hating life so much?

5. Yep, you just described my mother-in-law
Before the war started, we had a knock-out drag-out argument over this. I was simply astounded at what she believed. She didn't care that there weren't WMDs, connections to 9-11, uranium from Niger, aluminum tubes, etc. Bush was starting this war to bring about Armageddon and the return of Jesus to save people like her. And that was grand.

When I told her that the war was going to lose our focus on deterring terrorist acts in our country, she didn't care. "What if they blow up my son's school?" That was perfectly OK, as long as he was saved. He would go to a greater place. Too bad I'm a Deist, huh? Friggin' loony.

8. That's called "Rapture Politics".....and here's a sampler:
One site I discovered that shows how these folks think:

"The Bush/Kerry skirmish was a conflict, in my opinion, whose outcome was largely determined before the push-pull spiritual battle in high places ever got underway on election day. It was won on the battlefield of prayer that led up to Tuesday, November 2. All that was left to do on that day was for millions of God’s children to march to the polls....God gave the victory, while His children voted "God" with their ballot-box decisions. The Lord did it! He deserves the praise and honor!"

(The segment above retrieved from the archived November 8, 2004 entry). Pretty scary, huh?

9. Yeah...
I can't believe that I've heard so many people present this line of reasoning...

It's fairly prevalent where I live...

My mother is one of those people... lol...

10. Will she be getting 72 hunky virgins when that happens?
Edited on Fri Aug-12-05 09:17 AM by iconoclastic cat
Edited to add: Did we go through this before, around the 1900's or the Great Depression or something?

18. and about those virgins
I've always suspected that people who are rightfully afraid of comparison have a thing for "virgins".

It would certainly explain a lot . . .

13. They misunderstand
I shake my head every time I read something like this. Think of earth's history (past, present and future) as a movie. The "Big Guy" has seen the movie and decided to play the spoiler and let us know about it (Revelation, Daniel, etc) - I'm sure hoping to dissuade us from going through with it. Somewhere along the line, the Christians have read all this and mistakingly concluded that God wrote the script, when in fact he only reported on the script's content .....

God help us all -
