Is there a thread on today's USA Today * story? |
|
I saw the paper inside a rack this morning and read the story down to the fold. Apparently Bush spoke to the media yesterday and talked about Cindy. I think the story said he spoke in "unusually personal tones," or some such thing, about her.

1. don't know about any other threads, but USA Today must have meant |
|
that he actually said her name. However he continued his generic crap calling Casey Sheehan 'loved one' as well as all the other dead US troops.

Was it a press conference or did he just slither outside, garble a mini-speech and slither back under his rock?

6. He specifically said her name, "Mrs. Sheehan". or at least the |
|
quote in the paper said it.

8. I saw video and he actually pronounced "SheeHAN" correctly |
|
which is why they probably didn't change much else of his shallow spiel that he's been giving over the years.
The handlers can only do so much with his limitations. They had him say "Mrs. Sheehan" correctly and even tried to list all the iterations of "loved ones" by saying, "sons and daughters ... brothers and sisters ..." (might have said 'moms and dads') he had some hesitation coughing those up.
In the end, he was still with 'loved ones' which Cindy has stated is so offensive.

3. You can`t get much more personal than sending folks to die for a lie! |
|
Bu$h is not a very personal person. He is a beast. And will continue to beastly things until "We the People" become personal enough about his war crime to stop him. I did send money and a support letter to Cindy Sheehan by the way. And I will continue to do more. Peace Wildman Al Gore is My President

4. If one examines his comments about the war, it is apparent |
|
he never speaks in personal tones about it. He always uses phrases that sound oblique, not personal, as if we don't have anything invested in the war and casualties.
"I understand the anguish that some feel about the death that takes place," Bush said "I have heard the voices of those saying: Pull out now! and i've thought about their cry and their sincere desire to reduce the loss of life by pulling our troops out. I just strongly disagree."
"...the death that takes place" is an example of his indirect phrasing that attempts to depersonalize it.

5. I read the article this morning. |
|
The interesting thing was that there were two full articles, one on the left, showing and quoting Cindy and one on the right with Bush. They were the same size, appeared to have equal prominence. The paper was obviously depicting this as a dialog between the two, not unlike some of the exchanges in the media between U.S. officials and Saddam Hussein. As far as I could tell, the piece was not biased. It was the most visible presentation in the print media I've seen.

I didn't even notice the story about Cindy. Now it looks like I'll have to pony up fifty cents and buy a copy.
Thanks for letting me know.
