$5000+ per hour to avoid one grieving mother whose son he sent to die over lies and greed.

That's YOUR money he's flushing.

9. good article
and this part contradicts the truthout report of the limo going by at noon....

<snip>

Yet there was no sign Mr. Bush intends to meet Ms. Sheehan. In fact, there were reports he is travelling solely by helicopter when he leaves the ranch in an effort to avoid racing past the protester in a limousine.

and this says it all about the coward...

<snip.

Cal Jillson, a political scientist at Southern Methodist University in Dallas who has studied Mr. Bush's rise, said: "For him, meeting this woman face to face would be blinking. His whole game is to be confident and to appear never to doubt and never to waiver. It's this idea of determination."

And unlike government leaders in a parliamentary system who are challenged directly by their political opponents, Mr. Bush can easily shelter himself from such confrontations.

"He would not trust himself in a face-to-face meeting and neither would his staff. These guys like control," said Prof. Jillson, who added that Ms. Sheehan's protest in itself may not be that significant but it comes at a time when many Americans are reconsidering their views of the Iraq war.

5. Monday's NYT article said he'd have to "drive" past her today
That's been the general picture in all I've read since.

18. Chopper for trips to AF1 in Waco; motorcade for nearby trips.
The Chimperor is going to "a neighboring ranch" for a fund-raiser (six years of fund-raising), so he'll be going (along with courtiers) by motorcade. If he were going to Air Farce One (at the airport in Waco), he'd go by helicopter.

19. That would depend on where he's going to/from.
Edited on Fri Aug-12-05 12:20 PM by TahitiNut
Such trips also involve far more than just him and a few others. There's a whole contingency of courtiers and support staff, many of whom have to travel by ground to the airport where Air Farce One (and additional planes) is parked. The logistics of Presidential travel are quite extensive.

7. Mister Bush is such a brave man. I expect he's actually flying
the chopper, and wearing the flight suit with the potato in the package straps.

11. Truthout still reporting.......
that motorcade went by.....

Friday 12 August 2005
11:30 AM

Bush's motorcade went directly past us at 11:15, the crowd chanted peacefully.

Then again - is it possible that Glorious George took the copter and sent some of the staff in the limo?

12. Has it been unusually rainy in that part of Texas lately?
Because that grass is awfully damned green for this time of the year in Texas--it should be brown and desiccated.

Could it be that Herr McCokespoon is consuming more than his share of water to keep his acres and acres of grass greened-up?

13. There's another guy in the pic also bent over the same way -
are they looking for something? They don't look to be anywhere close enough to the 'copter to need to duck the blade wash. Is this a new salute (Kowtow) for the dictator? Those guys tend to like funny hats, dress ups and strange marching steps.

BTW, I wonder what it costs, per hour or otherwise, to operate the SUV convoy.

14. Are you kidding? Hell, Air Force One costs much more than that!
And Bush used it as his personal campaign vehicle last year to criss-cross the country, probably costing us at least a few million dollars in jet maintenance alone.

20. I know...AF 1 is extremely expensive but a different story....
I was focusing on the current Crawford situation. Chimpy might build an airport at the pig farm but until then, he either rides or flies to Waco.

21. Are you talking to me? WTF?
The issue of my post wasn't IRAQ or the cost of AF1. It was an illustration of what a COWARD Bush is.

propaganda to rile up freepers?

You're on the wrong board, my friend.
