Air America makes me very nervous...
I listened to it for the first time today and I got very nervous. I'm so used to talk radio being right-wing that I keep expecting Sean Hannity's voice to come out of the speakers.

Anyone else get the same feeling?

1. No, it makes me happy!
Finally, to hear some common sense coming from my radio!

I'm used to it being there. I watch part of the Franken show almost every night on Sundance channel. Who else??

4. No
I was used to horrible talk radio but I found Air America quite refreshing. Remember, these people are on our side so don't feel nervous.

lol Yeah, I used to feel that way...
When it was first on, I kept expecting the 'other side' to be pushed. It seemed so shockingly 'left' at first to me, that I would roll up my windows so 'no one could hear' if I was going to pick up my kids.

Now, I just listen to it like I listen to NPR... with my windows open! I'm such a paranoid wuss... :)

6. I have a hard time listening to some of the hosts
but some are okay...but just like the RW stations, they are mostly preaching to the choir so if they help get people inspired and motivated about issues, it seems to be a good thing.

Welcome to DU :toast:

7. I did when I first got sattelite radio..
It is weird to hear someone saying things that you actually agree with instead of cursing at the radio for your whole drive while Insannity or Limpballs spews on about how great Bush is.

I am sad that AAR is gone from Sirius, I miss Mike Malloy, but I love Serius Left 143!!!! Stephanie Miller is my favorite..I also like the Young Turks, Ed Schultz and Bill Press...Lynne Samuels is good, but her voice grates on me after awhile...

Anyone else think that Ed Schultz sounds like Limbaugh (not his opinions, but something about his voice)

8. If I were in a very red place...
and surrounded by redness, it might make me nervous. I'd be expecting jackboots on the doorjam..

Then, when I realized it was SAFE to hear the truth, I would be insufferably excited.. nudging and whispering to my "not-so-red" friends about the great truth stash I had found!

9. Relax, you'll get used to it. No one is going to start banging on your
door and confiscate your radio.

10. Give yourself some time to adjust to finding out liberal ideals are not
just voices in your own head! Fact is, our values are majority values, we just haven't gotten much air time the past 20 years. Nice to hear others saying what you hold as truth and important.

11. It's just the paradigm shift - you'll get used to it
For practice, if you have satellite, try watching a Corporate "news" program, then switch over to FSTV - total "thru the looking glass" experience!

13. No.
I worked for years in news/talk radio as a board op and call screener, so I am used to the dynamics and time contraints of talk radio. Fortunately, the hosts I worked with were moderates or liberal or gardeners, except that I did have to work overnights with networked Ray Breem and that asshole that used to sub for Larry King when he was still on radio. Anyway, I listened to Ed Shultz when his show started, and was grateful for it. I listened to AR from it's first day, and was grateful for Unfiltered and Randi and often (but not always) Franken.

Whatever makes you nervous or anxious, just don't focus on it. If it gets too intense or you get uncomfortable, turn it down (that helps) or turn it off. For a little while. But, turn it back on. You will find that you get used to the format and the problems fitting conversations in between commercial breaks. You will get used to the raised voices, and the comression of the audio signal.

Just give it time. What is to be gained is the tremendous amount of information and sources that you will receive.

never, unless it is to play a clip of him or the fat druggy or the sanctimonious hunk of puss that is o'liely lying so that al or randi can debunk them with facts.

17. I love it!
I love the wide range too. You have shows like Jerry Springer and Al Franken and then you turn around and have Mike Malloy and Rhandi Rhodes so I think there is something for everybody. I like to watch Franken on the Sundance Channel too.

Air America is very relaxing!
Its the only talk radio besides NPR that I do not have to have my hand on the dial ready to turn at a seconds notice!
