CNN: Low income workers, unemployed "most likely" to worry about gas price

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The pinch at the pump is starting to feel more like a punch for a growing number of Americans.

With gas prices soaring, almost two-thirds of those surveyed for an AP-AOL poll expect fuel costs will cause them financial hardship in coming months. That was sharply higher than in April, when about half felt that way.

The poll conducted for The Associated Press and America Online News found that 64 percent say gas prices will cause money problems for them in the next six months, while 35 percent did not think so. In April, 51 percent expressed concerns about the cost of gas.

Those most likely to be worried about the financial impact are people with low incomes, the unemployed and minorities.

transportation of all kinds (trains, planes, ships, and automobiles.)

If it costs more to get it to the store...then they will jack up the price so you can buy less! Not to mention products that contain byproducts of petroleum (plastics!)

Explain that to someone who thinks bush is pro-capitalism/pro-economy.

Hopefully it will make us less materialistic in the long-run.

19. More CNN Idiocy. Their 'Fact Check' Segment Around Noon

stressed that gas prices are still below their historic (adjusted) high in 1981. They closed the segment comparing the cost of a dollar of gas with the cost of other items (bottled water, milk, Jack Daniels, etc.)

The entire tone of the piece was 'what are you complaining about, things have never been so good'.

If they were doing an actual fact check, they would present the FACT that the mid and late 70's price spikes were due to transitory geopolitical problems. What we are facing now is an age of chronic shortage due to geologic (and thermodynamic) constraints.
