What Happened to the Stock Market Today - Really Off
Reuters called it a perfect storm: oil, Dell, deficits

I wish the stupid stock market would level out. I just hate all this one day way up, next day way down stuff. It is so nerve wracking.

3. Come to the SMW and view the carnage with evidence.

It was a triple threat: Dell lost ground, trade deficit up, oil at $67/bbl.

4. Is oil really up to $67 now?
I really need to start walking sometimes. Cept for I have a bad knee and can't walk very far.

16. Oh, dear.
That is really hard on the Midwest where we don't have any mass transit systems. Our bus system is a joke. And everything is just so spread out.

Well, and all the macho guys drive trucks.

5. oil is starting to effect prices on consumer goods and it's also
cut into consumer spending, it's dragging the whole market down and Dell still made it's earnings but revenue was less then they predicted and thats all it takes to make investors nervous.

6. And the New Energy Bill Did What to Help?
Gave more money to the energy companies? Oh, that can't be!

Nothing to help the price of gas? It took decades to get here, you know, and it will take time to cure the problem.

I don't know how much more of this logic I can take.

We have the worst roads in the country, you know. At least some of our blue collar workers will be able to work.

8. You know, since Enron happened I haven't paid attention to the market
It's a fixed game set up by rich people to pad their wallets, it's more risky than betting all my money on one spin of the roulette wheel. I've since pulled my measly 401K out of the market. Before Enron I used to check it every day in detail, now I don't even bother. The stock market is just another casualty of the Bush administration. I will never trust it again.
