Local news in Houston is taking note of Sheehan, but portraying it poorly. |
|
Just a few minutes ago, the local CBS affiliate here in Houston (Channel 11 News) opened with a report on Cindy Sheehan's vigil in Crawford, followed by comments from three Houston mothers who also lost sons, that support President Bush and "disagree" with Cindy.
I say "disagree" because EVERY report on Houston TV on the subject has stressed one point above all else: that "Cindy Sheehan wants President Bush to pull the troops out of Iraq now/immediately." The more important question of forcing President Bush of defending his reasons for going in in the first place and why we remain are NEVER mentioned.
When interviewing these pro-Bush women who lost sons, they all repeat the same mis-informed response, "Our children died defending America" and/or "to bring Democracy to the Iraqi people". It's quite infuriating that no reporter ever contests that reasoning, or points out that that is EXACTLY what Cindy is doing in Crawford, asking the President to defend those very assumptions.

2. So they are applauding the fact that their childen are dying for lies? |
|
That's an amazing coincidence, given the echos that were resonated through vietnam. Only now, another 100 soldiers could die just this month on their hands.

has been on Bush's 'sympathy' for the mother. Ohhh the compassion of our patient Lord (of the flies).
"Mom's vigil draws Bush's sympathy But protest after son's death won't sway Iraq policy, president says"

4. "she (sheehan) can disagree with the president because our troops |

died to protect her right to do so" variations on that are my favorites. so if we HADN'T invaded a country that wasn't dangerous to us, we wouldn't be able to express our freedom of speech? i guess vietnam and korea and the phillipines (sp?)and the spanish american war (and all the other muscle flexing wars i have forgotten) make it possible for me to write this. that's nice.
