Did anyone watch Dateline?
They reported on the BTK killer. The phone rang just as he was asked why there weren't more killings and I never heard the answer. Anyone know what he said?

5. Thanks, I will.....
I hate it too - but also I'm mesmerized by it for some reason. I read the books on Bundy and several others. It's awful.

6. Wichita Kansas
He killed at least 10 people many years ago - from the 70s through the 80s. He played a cat-and-mouse game with law enforcement for years. Was caught by a dumb mistake - at the beginning of this year he sent them a computer disk. He didn't know they could recover deleted files and they found his name on it. He was leading a quiet middle-class life with a wife and two kids who knew nothing. He plead guilty so they'll be no trial.

7. Ok. I kinda remember the killings now.. did NOT know he sent that disk,
though and that he was caught because of it.

Oh man, his poor family. His wife must be sick to know what she's been sleeping with all these years.

8. I know. I feel so sorry for her and their kids....
when they suspected it was him, they used some of the daughter's DNA to confirm. The house was put up for sale; the wife filed for divorce. He said that he plead guilty because his wife asked him not to put her and the kids through a lengthly trial. I think he would have enjoyed the lengthly trial - he likes the spotlight. Creepy.

Someone bid especially high on their house so that it might give the wife a new start somewhere else. I thought that was nice.

I can't help but think that he had to have killed more than just 10 over a 30-year time period. If they find one after 1994 (I think 1994) he can get the death penalty. Before 1994, Kansas didn't have the death penalty and so he'll just get life.

9. I don't know if this program was a re-run, but at the beginning
they said BTK was going to be sentenced tomorrow. But that would be on a Saturday?

10. I didn't think it was a rerun....
but the interview they showed was done the same day that he appeared in court and pleaded guilty. I'm not sure if he's already been sentenced yet or not.

11. Honestly, I couldn't watch more than 5 minutes of it
I love psychological thrillers when it comes to novels or movies, but real life...NO! I get too freaked out.

My mom and I were discussing the sheer amount of serial killer shows on cable tv lately and we started discussing whether this was a good thing or not. Thoughts?
