S.F. drivers floored by cost of gas (lead graf of the night)

Tom Abate, Chronicle Staff Writer

Frank Tognotti pulled into a gas station on San Francisco's Van Ness Avenue on Friday and was shocked that it cost nearly $30 to pump just 9 gallons of regular into the SUV he says he bought to help stimulate the economy after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

"That's the worst I've ever seen it," said the 38-year-old Emeryville man, who drives daily to the restaurant he opened two years ago in North Beach. "Why California? Why the Bay Area? Who says we have the deep pockets?" Tognotti asked rhetorically after shelling out $3.10 a gallon.

2. Bought an SUV to satisfy his ego his more like it. Pay through the nose
you dumb sucker!!!

Just wait a few weeks when the trucking companies up thier rates along to the stores, as Diesel fuel is 3.00 dollars a gallon too.

Car or not we are all going to pay dearly for our oil gluttony.

5. What an imbecile.
He's apparently familia - North Beach restaurants are 'old school' Sicilian/Italian. Van Ness is one of the most expensive places to buy gas in the entire Bay Area -- and he's an diot enough to drive an SUV in the city? Imbecile. Macho imbecile. Maybe he should sell his cornuto.

8. I just saw it on Market St. in SF Top $3.00 a gallon today.
The Bushies and their moonie following seem to feel it's their mission to deplete the finite fuel sources as soon as they possibly can.
And then what? Oh, that's right. They haven't thought it through.
