37. Ray McGovern is awesome
He has been speaking truth to power for a long time- An American hero to be sure.

He nailed Cheney at the Downing Street Memo/minutes hearing...

CIA Veteran Ray McGovern: Cheney Caught in a Lie
http://bellaciao.org/en/article.php3?id_article=7019

"On August 26, 2002, less than 5 weeks after the briefing at 10 Downing Street, Vice President Cheney gave a major speech in which he said, "We now know that Saddam has resumed his efforts to acquire nuclear weapons. Among other sources, we’ve gotten this from the first-hand testimony of defectors including Saddam’s own son-in-law."

This was a lie.

Saddam’s son-in-law, Hussein Kamel, told us just the opposite when he defected in 1995. Again, he told us just the opposite. You can find it on page 13 of his debriefing report. He said, "All weapons, biological, chemical, missile, nuclear, were destroyed." How did Kamel know this? He was in charge....

So that’s how it works, folks. That’s how you fix intelligence.

All you need is chutzpa, a very flexible attitude toward truth, slumbering watch dog intelligence committees in the Congress, and a supine press eager to accept official explanations no matter how disingenuous."

4. That's beautiful
I think O'Reilly scoffed at how people are referring to Cindy as a Rosa Parks figure. I guess these phone calls of support put an end to doubt and scoffing. The right wing arguments seem to go *poof* almost as soon as they appear.

Thanks for posting aobut this. I didn't see the original.

21. What these assholes like O'Reilly don't
GET is there is NO place for smearing a mother of a fallen soldier. It's anti-American and scummy to even attempt it. There are no arguments against a grieving parent asking for some time from what is supposed to be a public servant.

She has made the ultimate sacrifice for her country; but the "public servant" can't find time from his LONNNNNNG vacation to invite her in for a cup of coffee.

I'm so tired... up all night making posters for Camp Casey. anarchy1999 (who will hopefully be back) asked me to make them, so I finally got to use that Dumbya image. I saw you made one too, which is great, though, I have to say I like the one above even better. :) Here's another version of the Marlboro Man:

I even made one that was just an outline of the figure so that children can color it in with Crayons... I suggest lizard green for GW's skin, but that's a personal preference. :D

Are you going to bring a laptop to keep in touch via Internet? I wish I could be there... though, I can experience it vicariously through y'all.

Sweet that you sent that poster with Kat. It will be a BIG HIT!

We know that you are there in spirit Bro. And since it is only in spirit, I hope you give those useless "We Don't Care" Freeps a wicked wedgie! Spirits can't be filmed by the corporate media. So, you will get away with it!

34. Suggestion:
I can't keep my eyes open any longer or type... when those brown shirt assholes chant their racist "we don't care" BS, I suggest everyone sing "we are not afraid," and "we shall overcome," like during the civil rts mvt. If someone can, bring a boom box and play gospel music... "we all need somebody to lean on" ... you know what I mean. Grab the christian angle and use it to keep peace while stealing all the freeps pitiful thunder - out-jeebus them. :)

HAVE ANY OF OUR DEM LEADERS CALLED CINDY to offer their support? I'd like to see one of them SHOW UP in Crawford, if only for a few minutes to speak, and show their support to our grassrooters.

Seems to me, SOMEONE could take a little time away from their big donor supporters to back us up here!

31. Oh, that is so deeply touching,...
 I feel a sense of validation through proxy.

You notice how the nasty, hate-mongering nasties avoid any condemnation of Martin & Coretta, Rosa, and others associated with the civil rights movement (completely disregarding that they were also an anchor in the anti-Vietnam activism). Yet, those nasties treat us, the defenders of human and civil rights, opponents of unlawful aggressive wars,...they treat us exactly the same as all those savages did to those in the MLK movement?

I am sick of these dark-heartered, NASTY, savages who pretend like they represent our people when, in truth, they represent everything that obstructed the best of our nation. Where did the sociopathic freaks come from?

myself, I am absolutely thrilled and feeling goosebumps that an iconic 20th century Symbol of America has reached out to embrace a 21st century version of courage and humility. Cindy may also end up in jail, but for the noblest of reasons and a legacy that will shine in history and embolden future generations, just like Rosa Parks and Coretta Scott King!

45. Just had an email exchange with a Seattle PI reporter over this
Mothers War Protest veers onto Wrong Path

President Bush could end the shenanigans of the military mom turned antiwar poster child who is camped outside his Texas vacation ranch.

All he has to do is meet with the grieving woman.

If the president spoke with Cindy Sheehan for a few minutes behind ranch doors, he could field her questions about why her soldier son made the ultimate sacrifice.

He could show the world he does have a heart, contrary to public perception. A brief tête-à-tête also would douse the blaze of media that threatens to make the cowpoke town the site of a whoopee-ti-yi-yo showdown.

Mom versus the Prez.

Trouble is Sheehan is not sincerely interested in meeting Bush for a private, heartfelt chat about her understandable anguish and lingering questions"
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/jamieson/236483_robert13.html

I wrote to him:
"Coretta Scott King and Rosa Parks called Cindy to lend support."

And he answered!
"your point being what? all blacks think alike?"

Oh my. Wow. My reply:

"No. That's not at all what I meant. I meant to point out that Cindy is following in the footsteps of Martin Luther King."

women can do what so many of us have been trying to do since the start of this illegal, immoral war. They can reveal the hypocrisy and lies that started this war and turn the majority against it and inspire them to do something about it.

You women are the true patriots, and you show the rest of the world that the neocons have so inflamed the America that I am proud to call my home.

Peace and best wishes to these wonderful ladies!!

the mothers of the "disappeared" in Argentina ended up toppling the government. Cindy could be the first mother in the US to start toppling this corrupt gov

http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_george_h_050812_cindy_sheehan_and_th.htm

The other day, I was listening to a Holly Near CD, "Singer in the Storm," and played "They Dance Alone," which she sings with Mercedes Sosa and has to do with the wives and mothers of the disappeared in Argentina. "Singer In the Storm" made me think of Cindy and this song, of all the women who continually pay for war with heartbreak. Then I saw the above article at OpEd news last night. And now this topic.

I don't have money or time to go to Camp Casey, but I am going to rethink my situation to see if I am thinking wrongly about what is possible.

"Singing For Our Lives"

We are a gentle angry people
Singing, singing for our lives

We are a land of many colors...
Singing, singing for our lives

We are an anti-nuclear people...
Singing, singing for our lives

We are gay and straight together..
Singing, singing for our lives.

We are a peaceful, loving people...
Singing, singing for our lives

To Cindy and all of us, who are Singers in the Storm...

Go here to Truthout http://www.truthout.org/cindy.shtml and see the pictures on the right hand side. Go down to the 19th photograph. It's one of Cindy in a sort of profile. She's wearing a white tee and a hat. The text under the photo is this:
"August 10, 2005 | Wearing a hat with supporting messages from friends, Cindy Sheehan of Vacaville, California, takes a moment's rest in the ditch on Wednesday. On Friday afternoon, she was contacted by Coretta Scott King and Rosa Parks."
