Is MSM coverage of Camp Casey including other moms/families |
|
who have lost loved ones in Iraq?
I gave up watching corporate news media a long time ago, but I do channel surf and, while I've been impressed that Cindy Sheehan is even receiving coverage on news programs, I haven't seen much attention paid to MSO members and other grieving families who have joined her.
Are they getting any coverage at all, or are the corporate media portraying this as a "lone mom" angry at Bush?
PS: I did notice last night while surfing that most of the "news" programs I saw seemed mostly fixated on the Aruba case. :eyes: It's sad, and I feel for the family, don't get me wrong, but the amount of attention given to this is flat out wrong.

Unfortunately, my guess is that, in the name of "balance," they will counter Cindy Sheehan with parents who do not share her views and regard their children's deaths as a sacrifice in the name of freedom and democracy. Of course, these same journalists will not point out, in the name of balance and fairness, that Cindy Sheehan has a brain and these others, nothwithstanding their losses, are brain-dead. Cindy Sheehan, in the face of her tragic loss, is intelligent, thoughtful, and wants the loss of her son to mean something in a far greater context.
All of that aside, I do wonder why we're not seeing more people like Cindy Sheehan speaking out in the same way. That is curious.

2. What prompted this question was a video I just watched on Truthout |
|
It was of a press conference at Camp Casey. In addition to Cindy, there are a number of parents and wives of American troops who are either currently serving or KIA who also spoke.
Why aren't they receiving coverage? I know the answer to that question, but I think it's something we need to press the MSM about.
I liked your response, btw. Very good summation of Cindy.

I haven't had TV for a couple of years and so didn't see those interviews. Really glad there are other families there and that they are being interviewed. The extent of their coverage will, I suspect, depend on whether they are as photogenic and well spoken as Cindy Sheehan. Also, if this vigil is continued when * returns to Washington, and these families rejoin the vigil there, the coverage, I think, would be inevitable. In any case, our fingers are crossed.
