MSNBC formally calling Crawford The Western White House.
I noticed this morning that they were showing a piece on junior "Working at the Western White House".
Um, considering that the White House belongs to the American people, when did we decide that it should be moved? And if that is the case, when are they going to extend the same rights to the citizens as we have to the D.C. White House?

Following that line of thinking, shouldn't they consider setting up hours for visiting tours? Aren't we allowed a nearby area such as Lafayette park for protests and demonstrations? Don't citizens have full access to viewing our White House, at least from a distance, if only for reasons of photography? Shouldn't they allow at least three or four hotels to be built across from the "Western White House" so that Americans can have a place to stay while visiting? Or are we only offered a ditch five miles down the road?

Unless they start giving us some of the rights to our "extended White House" MSNBC should just shut up and stop running that idiotic headline.

1. Then we should refer to Camp Casey as "The Western Mall"
If there is a western white house, there should be a western mall.

The thing that really irks me is the oval sign they had made up that says "Western White House"

HIS PERSONAL LITTLE "PRAIRIE CHAPEL RANCH" IS NOT THE WHITE HOUSE!

He's either on vacation, or he's working. He cannot have it both ways. There's no "working vacation" checkbox on his damn paycheck.

5. They have a presidential seal for that, too
I saw it a while back and I commented about here on DU. It blew me away that the ranch would be called that. I doubt they would offer tours :eyes:

14. Seriously?
Then I would think Cindy does have certain access rights, at least for peaceful protest. Maybe that is why that haven't yet arrested her. ?

16. Sets bad precedent to have the mother of a dead soldier arrested
I wouldn't mind it...Not for anything to happen to her...I respect her greatly, but the backlash against bush would be a sight to see!

7. Does this mean the ranch has been subjected to eminent domain
laws and now is the property of all taxpayers? No?

didn't think so.

12. If Bush wants to call his ranch the Western White House
then he should be required to turn the land over to the government. When it becomes government land, the citizens should be allowed access to most areas, except his private living quarters and a security perimeter if he's so paranoid.

To call this property the Western White House is an abuse of power otherwise. But that is all Bush ever does is abuse power.

17. That "Western White House" shit has always infuriated me...
...and no one in the MSM has ever questioned it...just gone along with it....whenever I see that so-called "Western White House" sign, like the "White House, Washington" one, used in the briefing room, I absolutely want to pull and Elvis and shoot the tv!!!!

25. The White House is not a disneyland franchise!
What would people think *if* there were alternate dwellings for the President though that were public property like the actual WH?

I guess technically that would give one state precidence over another, which is why DC is sort of a quasi-state.

18. They can buy the WH propaganda and reframe it as
the Western White House (to perpetuate the "hard work" myth)

But it would be more accurate to call it the "Best LIttle Whorehouse in Texas"
