a couple of kids from Crawford's midnight visit to Peace House.
The Iconoclast has the transcript of a visit from "John & Jeff Doe". A couple of recent HS Grads who live in Crawford.. made a late night visit to the Peach House out of curiosity:

http://198.65.14.85/News/2005/31-40/32news18.htm

"JOHN DOE: It’s like everybody is the same. Everybody is so hardcore conservative. And they look at this place like, “Look at all those hippies over there. People over there doing their thing, always against everything.” I don’t think they’d be against it, but they’d wonder why. “They’ve been here for three years. What are you doing?” As an insider, you never hear of anybody coming over here, you know? I had a wild hair and thought I’d come over here and see what’s up.

ICONOCLAST: What did you think after you met with these people here?

JEFF DOE: They’re just normal people. I mean, they are very strong in their points of view just like other people, you know? I mean, it’s just normal people over here. Of course, they have things on their mind, which is why they’re over here. They have things they want to say. Everybody is just relaxed and then this comes up, and this is the only action that comes up. Everybody was really nice and friendly."

1. NICE!
A little truth dawns on a couple of Crawford teens. Sure hope they never get sent to die in this mess.

3. Perhaps the beginning of a better way of thinking in the Lone State
I sure do hope so, it is the young who usually lead the way to change.

4. fuckin sAD THE liberal demcrat has really been created as monster
took a polll for how american are you. suggesting drinking wine makes me less american, now would be funny, but people actually have this in their mind. to suggest we have no family value, an absurdity, yet, it is with ease someone refers to a republican as taking care of family. the ease people say a liberal is unhuman in so many different ways. on the news. just all over

5. Thanks. I liked this one comment on W
"I also, on the other hand, think that he’s in over his head on a lot of things."

Plain speaking from a young man pretty much sums it up.

7. That was really neat. I love the Iconoclast!
Very nicely written.. and you can see how the boys are struggling with their feelings. This midnight visit may be a life changing event for them. Very sad that they had to hide their identities... and sad that they had to veil their disproval of Bush's policies and the war with such indirect speech and qualifiers.

I think it's awesome that they came there.
