Okay, WTF happened?
This morning, at 11:00 or so, we passed a gas station and the gas price was $2.58! Two days ago, it was only around 2.33! Why did gas jump .20+cents in one day?

BTW, this is NW Ark.

4. Where are you at?
Ours was in Greenland.

That wasn't the only one, also; we passed stations with $2.54, $2.55, and such.

2. Yesterday.
It sucks big time. I told my boss today that I wasn't sure if I could keep working for him because I'm spending $40 a week in gas to get there and this was BEFORE it shot up to $2.36 a gallon.

6. Harrison AR report
I don't know if this is where you were checking gas prices, but on Thursday the price jumped a dime. My husband and I know which stations go up first, and know the lag times of other stations, so when we saw the price, we headed for the cheap station and topped off the tank. My boss, who is buddies with the two main oil companies in town, told us that the gas price were to go up another 12 cents the next day. So I know that the gas companies had already decided how much to raise prices and when.

12. And what gripes me the most is the oil companies bragging
about their record profits. This in-your-face-government is really beyond hubris.

14. And with all the profits are they investing in double hulled tankers?
In Charlotte gas went from 2.13 to 2.50 in 4 days.
I was supposed to go to a family reunion in the Northeast. Gas alone will cost close to $400 - never mind meals etc. - I'll send them a picture. Nice going Bush and Dick - keep screwing and we'll be discussing nationalization of the oil companies on here.

23. The first thing we can do is Stop building fossil fueled motors.
We have the technology.

Let the old gas and diesel motors go the way of the dinosaurs before our foolishness, the manner with which we treat our planet takes any further toll on mankind.

I agree with you, spenbax. 'in-your-face' isn't the way to go

11. Some big profits here. Yes, the price of oil went up but it should
take a week or two for that oil to reach the states. As for the refinery problem - price of gas is up because refineries are at full capacity - that should create a glut of oil because it can't be processed fast enough. If there's a glut of oil, then the prices should go up so much.

Looks like Saudi Arabia isn't as friendly as they use to be.

16. And what will the price of oil be if we take Iran off line?
Every gallon of a liquid in the grocery store will be $5.00 or over soon - with the exception of bottled water.
A global economy with no oil to ship the goods - pure genius.

20. Well if you wanted to cover up the crimes coming
Into the light of day, not just one crime: but treasonable crimes... what would be the best way to do it?

Kill the economy quick, everyone will be too worried to keep focus. Dick called his buddies over at ExxonMoble and the Saudi pals and asked them to help out a bit, in the cover-up.

I say screw it, don't buy gas if you can help it. I have been trying to walk everywhere.

21. Expect $3/gal by Labor day, unless
something like this happens:

WASHINGTON - August 11 - With gas prices skyrocketing out of control in Northeast Ohio
and nationwide, Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH), today, renewed his fight to pass
HR 2070, The Gas Price Spike Act of 2005. The legislation, introduced by Kucinich in May,
currently is co-sponsored by 37 Members of Congress.

The bill will address the spike in the price of gasoline by placing a windfall profits tax on oil
companies; giving tax credits for the purchase of ultra efficient vehicles; and provide federal
grants to reduced mass transit fares.

“Consumers in Northeast Ohio, and nationwide, are being gouged at the pump,” stated
Kucinich. “The only thing rising faster than the price of gasoline right now is the
skyrocketing profits of the oil companies.”

“Congress can no longer sit on the sidelines and watch as skyrocketing prices continue to
take a heavy economic toll on consumers and risks further harming our economy,”
continued Kucinich. “Congress must act immediately upon returning in September, and I am
renewing my efforts to pass HR 2070, and bring immediate relief to consumers.”

25. peak oil. we are not there yet maybe but gas price jump
should make everyone aware of it and and desperate need for conserving

Everything must now be about conservation and sustainability not consumerism and high profits. or we are doomed.

plus global warming.

we must all move to where we work or work where we live. we must share rides. we must super insulate our buildings. we must buy totally local produce. we must learn how to garden and put up for winter.

we have or will soon enter "power down"

much more has to be done to prepare and join with our communities.

The oil execs are gouging the hell out of us, courtesy of their bestest bud in the WH, GeeDubya! My neighborhood station was $2.29 yesterday, where it has been for the past three days. I haven't been out today so can't say if it's gone up.

30. I'm in Arkansas as well
When I stopped off at our local station for a fill'er up, I commented with the owner about how high the prices were. He told me to get use to it cause over the next week, they'd be raising the prices that much more. Over $2.50 on Saturday. I guess he wasn't kidding.

I guess ole Bush hasn't gotten around to "jawbonin'" OPEC yet. :eyes:
