BBC: US fights fresh Abu Ghraib images
At last the unreleased pictures get some MSM coverage:

US fights fresh Abu Ghraib images

The US government is trying to stop fresh images of prisoner abuse in Iraq being made public, claiming they will aid the insurgency, court papers show.

US civil liberties groups have launched a lawsuit to force the release of 87 pictures and four videos showing abuse at Abu Ghraib jail in Baghdad.

Earlier images sparked worldwide condemnation and resulted in charges against a number of soldiers.

The US argues the rest should stay hidden to avoid helping the insurgents.

It is "probable that al-Qaeda and other groups will seize upon these images and videos as grist for their propaganda mill," the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, Gen Richard Myers, argues in court papers.

Releasing the images could also incite violence against US troops, he says.

2. Maybe the dumbasses in charge should have thought about the effect that
torture would have on the Iraqis and the ME before they fucking authorized it.

Like everytthing else in this screwed up administration, there is absolutely zero accountability.

is this f*cking government! I'll tell you what they are afraid of. They are afraid of the American People coming after them with a mighty vengeance. They are not concerned for the troops. They are worried about their own asses!

Peace.

5. The world can't handle the truth...
Not having a very broad coalition going into this war is the biggest mistake. Having a president saying "bring it on" is the next. This administration is responsible for inciting violence against our troops.

6. The ONLY people who are not
PAINFULLY AWARE OF THE TRUTH are Americans. There is no "broad coalition" because the ROTW recognized the bald-faced LIES proffered as justification. ALL of Europe, Asia and the Middle East are aware of the U.S. policy of torture and what it has wrought. The pictures' release would only serve to shake YOUR pea-brains out of denial that YOU are NOW, in fact, the BAD GUYS. THAT is the ONLY REASON your *gub'mint has ignored a court order. Kinda like they ignore treaties, common decency and truth.

9. Publication of the photos/videos and full punishment up the military chain
of command would do more to slow the insurgency than keeping them secret and punishing no one. But everyone knows this isn't about the Iraqi insurgency, as they get their information from word-of-mouth directly. This is about political embarrassment, falling poll numbers, and the maintenance of political power.
