Channel 3TV to Cover Our Send Off to Crawford Tomorrow!-12 People Going |
|
And Michael Moore has posted on his website a banner story about the Ithacans going to Crawford. Here is the e-mail I just received:
The response to the call for folks to go to Crawford has been terrific! 12 people are leaving this weekend; more are scheduled to leave this week. Several of those who are leaving tomorrow were interviewed on Channel 10 Friday -- maybe you have seen it already -- Michael Moore picked this up and there is a banner headline on his website "Ithacans support Group to Crawford", and Channel 3 of Syracuse is going to cover our send off tomorrow of a car leaving from Greenstar (with red beans and rice from Regional Access and travel food from Greenstar!) at 1 pm. That's the Greenstar parking lot, tomorrow Sunday at 1 pm, to send off a carload of folks traveling to Crawford Texas to support Cindy Sheehan. For those of you committed to going, please come so that you can tell Channel 3 why. For those of you thinking of going please come so that we can find out who you are, get contact information and begin matching people with rides. We are at this point expecting to rent several minivans and expect to have one leaving for about a 6 day roundtrip on Thursday evening. Please come to support the folks who are going! Please come to get the information you need about travel and our activities! Please come to show your support for Cindy Sheehan!!

Ithaca group joins Texas protest
By Al Nall / News 10 Now
Cindy Sheehan is one protester who cannot be taken lightly. Her cause to meet President Bush face-to-face has the captured the attention of the nation. It has also spurred dozens across the country into action, including a group of people from Ithaca who are preparing to travel to Texas.
"The minute I read that I realized this is going on all over and I raised it with some people and right away everywhere we turn people have been on it. It's not a hard sell at all. People want to do something, people are fed up," said organizer Howard Engelskirchen.
President Bush's motorcade passed the group of protestors Friday. It had grown from a handful last week to about fifty. About ten people from Ithaca are planning to make the trip to join the protest.
"Her call in particular as a mother of a killed soldier she has the best voice and needs to be shored up to call for an end to this insanity and this war," said Teresa Grady, who is traveling to Crawford.
"I served in the Marine Corps in Vietnam and so I have first hand experience of just how terrible war is and this present war is no ."
Some will drive, others will fly. Pat Young says he feels it's important for him to be there.
"So many deaths so many of these terrible stories over the past two and a half years that it's really important to put a name next to it, put a face next to it. It really, really brings it home," said Pat Young, another traveler to Crawford.
Organizers say many who couldn't make the trip have donated food or money to support the travelers. The group leaves Sunday.
Most of the group plans on staying in Crawford for about a week.

at this time. My role as such is organizer, help fund, to hold daily vigils here with banners and leaflets, to be a contact person for the group and anything else I can contribute. I will be out in the street every day that Cindy is in front pf the ranch. I am aching to go.
With two very young children I cannot go, though even with that it is so very compelling. The people that are going are seasoned activists, some from The Catholic Worker group, who are also set for trial in September on federal charges for pouring blood in a recruiters office. At that trial Cindy will speak at a pre and post trial event. There will also be a mock War Tribunal. This all to be in Binghamton in Sept.
In this city of Ithaca many have vowed to completely shut down the city if Bush decides to attack Iran. Things are way out of hand with these psychopaths in DC.
Am definitely going to DC for 3 or 4 days in the Sept protest.. Are you going?
everything is at stake right now, this isn't playtime.
Cindy Sheehan has become an archtype, what we needed to stir us from our slumber. WE MUST SUSTAIN THIS. WE CANNOT GO AWAY.
Autumn is near.
Peace to you SLD. Hope to see you in Sept.

"Life and Jah are one in the same. Jah is the gift of existence. I am in some way eternal, I will never be duplicated. The sigularity of every man and woman is Jah's gift. What we struggle to make of it is our sole gift to Jah. The process of that struggle becomes, in time, the Truth."
