Today I prayed.. (aka, My day in Crawford)
Edited on Sat Aug-13-05 07:21 PM by BeTheChange
I prayed. I prayed for my country. I prayed for Cindy. I prayed for the people that spewed such hate during Cindy's speech at Camp Casey. I prayed for my generation who represented less then 30% of the rally's population, yet will fight almost 100% of this country's wars. I prayed for the group of late teen/ 20 somethings in their alternative hippie/skater/70s clonewear that I saw get out of a truck that said "Cindy lies" and "Yankees go home" as they visited the local Bush gift shop. At one point, I even got down on my knees, not knowing what else to do... today was a tough day for me, personally.

Im disillusioned with the whole thing.. All I know is that everything else beside that which is related to Cindy is ancillary, non essential...

Come to Crawford. Go to Camp Casey, do not pass go, do not collect 200 bucks.. just go straight there.. she doesnt need any sub sandwiches or apples, or material things, just people with good hearts surrounding her, recharging her.

I should probably take some time to reflect on all of this before I let my emotions run away with me... but I leave this quote by Ghandi:

Adaptability is not imitation. It means power of resistance and assimilation.

And these pictures, which are how I saw and felt today:
( sorry.. edited cause the pics were so big)

Edited on Sat Aug-13-05 07:04 PM by cornermouse
If he believes in the war then he should be over there fighting it.

3. Howdy
Nice shots...Did you take them?

Sounds like you did have a tough day. Take a few deep breaths, stay away from the flame wars for a bit, have a cool shower. Maybe even some poetry would be good for you (Oooh, the big guns!)

BTW, you should send your photos to benburch--he's setting up a gallery.

18. We'll look for the DU canopy
that Maddy is setting up. Hopefully we will find you there. Is there anything specific that would be helpful to bring down with us?

I don't buy too many chips at all but when the stress kicks in I'm a plain, salty chip person myself if I'm combining with chocolate. I like to eat them together. But salt and vinegar are my second favs.

20. Hopefully Maddy will be able to find a space for it..
Today, I could barely find a space for a chair.

Just make sure to bring the stuff you will need... The peace house is pretty well equipped and paypal should let them at the money everyone has donated soon.

Stuff I recommend you bring:
alcohol and cotton balls for fire ant bites
sunscreen
snack foods of substance... ie, trail mix, beef jerky if you eat meat, soy nuts... stuff like that
Your own chairs...

That's about it.. look for other's like snot and anarchy's posts regarding what the peace house needs... Cindy needs nothing but support.

7. You shoulda seen the ones with Casey's picture on their signs..
That infuriated me. How dare they use a picture of Casey...

And the kids... they brought their kids to participate in their hate. When we were leaving there was a big suv with a kid popped up out of the sunroof with a sign that said "Cindy is a liar" stopped on the side of the road.. a child, couldnt have been more then 10. It broke my heart.. or the one that had their kid hanging out the window while they drove by us with a sign that said, "We all want peace, idiots"..

Stupid adults exporting their hate and predjudice....

23. Like that moran cared about Iraqis' freedoms before his idiot
President told him that was the reason for invading their Country? Please! These kool aid drinkers don't even know what a phony their leader is! They apparently don't even care about their own freedoms, insomuch as they are ready to let Commander Bunnypants strip them of whatever freedoms they hold dear. They should be pitied!

10. So did I...
Edited on Sat Aug-13-05 07:17 PM by VelmaD
I'm not religious but during the moment of silence I did two things. I begged the universe to right itself. And I thought about Andy and hoped like hell that he's "up there" looking out for us.

19. Thank you.
The picture of the guy with the "cut and run traitors sign" next to the picture of the white crosses says it all for me.

That fucking asshole doesn't have a cross there.

This has been a very emotional week, for many people across this country.
I want to thank each and everyone of you that have shared something from Crawford with us.
I have lived on this site the last 3 days.
I wanted to be there so bad, but had made previous arrangements that I could not change.

So thank you from the bottom of my liberal heart, for helping me to be there in spirit.
It's a wonderful thing you're doing.
