Three US soldiers killed by bomb in northern Iraq

BAGHDAD, Aug 14 (Reuters) - Three U.S. soldiers were killed and another was wounded when their patrol struck a roadside bomb in northern Iraq, the U.S. military said on Sunday.

The attack at Tuz, some 180 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad, occurred late on Friday, the military said in a statement. It gave no further details.

Four U.S. soldiers were killed and six were wounded in an attack on a patrol in the same area on Tuesday.

U.S. commanders have acknowledged insurgents have been designing more effective bombs, killing entire crews of armoured vehicles with increasing frequency.
