Soldier at center of protest known for quiet service
His gentleness and quiet but firm commitment to family, church and country are what people remember about Casey Sheehan. The 24-year-old soldier from California, who was killed last year in Iraq, is drawing attention as his mother continues her anti-war vigil in Texas.

Casey Sheehan was a former altar boy, church youth leader and Eagle Scout who re-enlisted after the war started. He volunteered for the rescue mission in which he and six others were killed last year.

Casey Austin Sheehan was the first of Cindy and Patrick Sheehan's four children. He had dreams of working as an Army chaplain's assistant, but wound up being a mechanic.

His division, the First Cavalry Division out of Fort Hood, was sent to Iraq in March of 2004. Sheehan was killed days later.

1. Overall, a pretty good bit of reporting----and from the
Fort Hood/Crawford area, no less. Of course, they should have had the part about Casey at the top--not at the very bottom. So there is still that bias of getting the pro-Bush stuff out first, in hopes that most of the "morans" will tire of reading before they get to the pro- Cindy stuff.

2. You're right, MoJo
pro-bush stuff first, because they just want to prove they are right to be backing shrub. Won't read the rest because they either have short attention spans or can't handle all those big words.

3. Odd, to get pro-war folks there required someone to pay their way
and bus them in from somewhere else. . .

Sheehan's supporters got themselves there by many different means and through many different hardships.

Who does that tell you is more dedicated to their cause and more willing to make the effort to see it through to fruition?

4. Exactly.
You can tell who is most dedicated to their cause and who is just there to blindly support their media bigmouths.
