One Woman - One Voice - One question ... and one president on a bike
Americans want their president in shape and "in a position to make good, crisp decisions," Bush said.
(Crisp Decisions??? ....crisp is how we want our lettuce... )

Bush is known for his commitment to fitness
By Ken Herman -- Cox News Service
Sun, Aug. 14, 2005

CRAWFORD - Forget what President Bush told you on the campaign trail. When Mr. Compassionate Conservative is hammering away on Mountain Bike One, there is a noticeable lack of compassion, a decided dearth of conservatism.

"I like to be fit," Bush said Saturday after leading journalists and aides on a rigorous Tour de Ranch. "My personality is such that I like to drive myself; I like to work hard."

---snip---

Saturday's ride came as anti-war protesters, rallying behind Cindy Sheehan, a California mom whose son Casey died in Iraq, gathered on a road near the Bush ranch. Bush has steadfastly refused Sheehan's request to meet with her.

"Whether it be here or in Washington or anywhere else, there's somebody who has got something to say to the president; that's part of the job," Bush said of bike-riding while a mother pleaded to talk with him. "And I think it's important for me to be thoughtful and sensitive to those who have got something to say. But I think it's also important for me to go on with my life, to keep a balanced life."

Americans want their president in shape and "in a position to make good, crisp decisions," Bush said.

1. Too bad he's been such a slouch...
... in the mental and moral exercise department. Who cares if he rides a bike when he can't run the country properly? The paperboy rides a bike, too, but I don't trust him with the country, either (although the paperboy might do a bit better).

2. Crisp decisions...
I remember President Bush's crisp decision-making skill that September morning in 2001 at an elementary school in Sarasota. Real crisp. Keep riding, Mr. Bush. You ain't there yet.

3. I am impressed...
a report about the president cycling and no mention of him falling off. Must have finally got use to having no training wheels, or Uncle Dick put them back on.

Pictures of caskets show public the awful costs of war
By HELEN THOMAS -- Aug. 12, 2005, 8:20PM

----snip----

The ban was apparently prompted by then-Defense Secretary Dick Cheney who wanted to prevent a repetition of split-screen TV pictures like those in 1989 that showed President H.W. Bush laughing and joking about the swift victory in the U.S. attack on Panama, at the same time that an Air Force transport plane was unloading caskets at Dover.

The White House was furious about the televised contrast.

5. He says he's thoughtful and sensitive but needs to go on with his life?
I cannot imagine a more self-centered insensitive stupid remark. It is very revealing though that he is so defensive and trying to justify his refusal to meet with her by this personal remark. What an ego to claim that the American people want him to be riding his bike and enjoying himself rather than taking care of concerns of Americans devastated by the war.

8. Sheesh! If he really just wants to go on with his life, he could RESIGN!
Of course, that would leave us with the real President, anyway.

It would still be pretty ugly, though.

 :puke: :eyes:

7. What a total narcissist this man is!?!
Edited on Sun Aug-14-05 07:50 AM by mcscajun
It's always ALL About HIM.

I...My...I....I...I...me...I...my.

I don't care if the President sits behind his desk munching Twinkies and never LOOKS at a bike. I don't care if he's got a beer belly and a BBQ Fixation. I care if the President has a heart or not...if he actually Thinks about the American PEOPLE more than he does himself.

This one doesn't...and all the exercise in the world won't make the man worthwhile.

13. Wasn't lack of compassion
the issue that finally did his father in? When the American people realized that Poppy didn't have a clue about what their lives were about they stopped voting for him. I think this is the turning point for W and more and more people are getting disgusted with him.
