I think Cindy should talk to the Texas shooter dude |
|
Show Bush what a little negotiating can do to solve a problem. I think the guy is feeling what we want Bush to be feeling. Unfortuantely the situation has put him over the edge. Perhaps a little negotiating would give Cindy the edge in the media.

The guy seems to be pissed that current events have disrupted his little world there on Prairie Chapel Rd.
Unless you've lived in a place where a car driving down the gravel a mile away grabs your attention you have no idea of the sort of mentality.
The closest thing most suburbanites can relate to is some other neighbor's guest parking a car in front of their house at "their curb."
My suggestion is stay calm, stay respectful, and keep your distance. The guy was looking to let off steam, hopefully he's done that and things are settled down. Someone in his face is likely to get him all worked up again. Remember a basic rule of country living: Don't piss off a guy holding a shot gun.

10. Mr. President's vacation is the real problem |
|
Doesn't this raise the question about Bush's accessibility as our President? If this western white house is the equivalent of DC, shouldn't there be some accommodations made for the protesters that does not put them next to a neighbor's property?
Old cranky pants Mattledge (or whatever his name is) should drive over and complain to Bush about not accommodating his visitors!

|
actually listen to what he had to say. it isnt a bad thing to listen to a person. i am sorry to say, i think he has to suck it up, what happens when pres moves into the neighborhood, and starts an illegal war, and has not a clue how to end the illegal war, allowing tons of death. i dont think the man is on sides, i think he wants his peaceful space back. i agree with you. we can understand where the man is coming from. i can

13. The important thing is that Cindy stays the course |
|
It is not important that she has a huge encampment with her. Her presence is known world wide. She will continue to get press coverage every single day she is there. It is important that it is great press coverage. If she could negotiate a camp size with this fellow, he might be willing to give help her instead of being so angry.
I would love to see a Camp Casey in every state in the union. If we had 49 more Cindys if could be done. The more camps the better. I'm willing to help out in Ohio if more people are interested. I have health issues that keep me from doing it on my own.

|
my interpretation of how he should react is different than his though.
I think he should join the protestors. Without getting too philosophical about it, if ANYONE should be able to relate to how the iraqis feel about our presence there, it should be him...and he is lucky enough to not be SHOT at!

16. I live in the country.... |
|
and can understand his frustration if something like this sprung up next door --- BUT the shotgun was not the answer. So, while I can sympathize with his feelings, he's gonna have to tough it out or find some way to get through it - as would I if it happened here.
I hope that no one will resort to violence but I would not put it past the current breed of conservatives who cannot stand any sort of dissension. They would never take the blame, of course, if something does happen.
This is why I love Ms. Sheehan's calm, cool demeanor. If the focus can stay on her, hopefully it will remain peaceful. This heat has to be hard to handle for them.

Her voice and demeanor could calm him....it could be a good move on her part and make the idiot-in-chief look like the fool we all know he is for not meeting with her. Good idea.

20. Listen to what this guy have to say?????? |
|
Ms. Sheehan don't have to talk to this guy to hear what he has to say. She can just turn on CNN, they highlight him there every 10 minutes. this, is after trying to ignore her vigil.
After it grew so as it could not be ignored, they spin it as "that woman", "anti-war protest", attempt to align her actions with "far left anto-war activist groups", and anything else that they deem to take on a negative connotation.
It's about time to let those idiots be first to extend the olive branch for a change.
Most wouldn't like my answer to the shotgun blast, which would have been a parade to the gun license office in Crawford for applications to carry, with an express explanation that I intend to defend myself if threatened.
My experience is that bullies have to be shown that bully tactics can and will backfire.

22. More bully tactics will not help |
|
If we wait for "those idiots" to extend an olive branch...well we just don't have that kind of time.
It doesn't matter who extends the branch of peace first. What matters is that is it extended. Talking and making an attempt at reasonableness & offering to see this man's point of view is going to go a lot further than stubborness.
We don't have that luxury . We need to seize this wonderful opportunity to make things better...not worse and do what it takes to make this man se something beyond his disrupted life and porta potties everywhere...as in lift him up, not confront him.
So what he gets his 15 seconds on CNN. I don't f'ing care. I care more that we actually reach him & others.

23. Ignoring the bully empowers the bully.... |
|
they won't offer the olive branch first or ever. But, there comes a time when you have to do whatever it takes to stop the bully from kicking sand in your face.
I dealt with my share of bullies (actually, it was easy for me, I grew up with 6 brothers), but the fact remain that there are times that people will not allow you the peace seek, and at that time you must make it plain that you will have that peace even if takes actions that you don't like to employ.

24. I'm not advocating a bully...I am saying meet him with compassion |
|
as an equal.
I don't see him as a bully, so that changes things right there....people often react to how they are treated. He is a man with an honest beef- doesn't mean I agree or would give in but I'd be willing to listen before I judge.
A little understanding is worth a shot. He will either be open or he won't but we have NOTHING to lose by trying a little human understanding and kindness. Lord knows there is precious little of it in this world and especially as bushwa's neighbor!! (For that alone the man deserves some compassion)
I'm just saying don't start out by confronting him.... Offer some common ground to just talk. I think Cindy is the perfect person to do this. JMHO :)

25. I'm not in disagreement with you for the most part... |
|
But after listening to him all morning on CNN, YES, I think he's a bully. He is so fed up with all the people and attention that he leases his property to the news guys. (yep, he wants everyone gone real bad), or maybe he just haven't figured out a way to profit from Ms. Sheehan being there. Oh wait, he has already announced his availability to Jay Leno and the other talk shows. I wonder how Fox has bidded so far.
He says if they all (folks at vigil) went home, the the president could live in peace, as well as his other neighbors.
NOPE, he is an idiot and these are only some of the items that makes his agenda clear, Ms. Sheehan is putting too much heat on his First Neighbor and he don't like it.
He gets nothing from me except whatever he has proffer to me, and personally I wouldn't care which way he decided to take it.

Sounds like the Shrub's emotional reasoning for bombing Afghanistan and then Iraq.
It's that kind of response that has us in the mess we're in. Violence only acclerates and increases the problems in these cases.
