and he was very funny, but not intentionally. He said this is like having your BIL come for a week and then never go home. He was bitching about people going to the bathroom in a 5 gallon bucket. Then when a reporter said that Cindy just wants bu$h to meet with her, he said well he's lived next door to him for 6 years and he's never met him!

The neighbor Larry was just on CNN ranting about the protesters and the portapotties. He wants them gone because they've overstayed their welcome. He wasn't taking sides just wanted the whole thing over.
He was on a roll and pretty funny.

Indeed, he'd enforce trespassing laws in an instant-- I just meant that I don't think Camp Casey's presence even inconveniences him by impeding access, noise next to his house, and so on.

49. I have to say that I've had experience with guys like that... |
|
Curmudgeons that talk big, sometimes shockingly out of tune, but are basically harmless. This guy, especially seems more concerned with getting back his way of life, than having any opposing political agenda. He has seemed reasonable up to now.
I hope no one does anything to further piss him off, though. (A friendly "basket" to show thanks that included, say a bottle of Jack Daniel or Wild Turkey or a case of his apparent fav beer, maybe with some mixed nuts (no pun intended), some of the exotic, gourmet jerkeys (elk, bison, antelope) that are now available--those kind of things. And, a nice hand-written note thanking him for his patience and pledging that all would be considerate of his and all other land, now and upon leaving....

37. He said something VERY SCARY, though. |
|
He said he's worried that things are going to get out of hand (does someone have the exact statement?) because his neighbors are very angry/real mad. While you had to laugh at the absurdity of the situation, I stopped smiling when I heard that.
Otherwise, I feel for the guy--you'd think he'd air his grievance with GEORGE BUSH. He was directing his frustration toward the symptom, not the problem.
If I were him, I'd be like could you please meet with this lady so they will leave!

45. I am an native Texan and spent my childhood summers on my Grandparents |
|
farm, so I can understand a little how this guy feels. I have land in the country also, the reason I have it is so I can get away from people.
I not saying what he did was right because it was not, he could have injured someone, what he did was plain stupid.
He should have acted like an adult, walked over and worked things out with the people in charge of the camp.
Living the country is really different then living in city where people are everyway, one gets to like the quiet and privacy. I can't wait until I can move and build my house on my land.
From what I have read this guy is not happy with Bush living next door, but he can't do anything about it so he went after the protesters instead.
Most country people are very nice, but you have to respect them. If Cindy anda few others would just go over and talk that would smooth things out.
I am very protective of my land, I don't mind if someone camps there. All I ask is just leave the land the way you found it.
Just think what it must be like to have Bush next door, with SS, all the noise and traffic that goes with it. I think pressure was building over the years, and all this was just to much.
I am sure the SS gave him a talk, and he will be changing his story if he hasn't already.
Texas is a big place with all kinds of people many of them non-texans like Bush please don't think we are all the same, remember a lot of us on DU live in Texas. Whenever some stupid thing like this happens all over the internet people will start to trash Texas, I would never trash another state if this happen there.
What Cindy is doing is important, and I wish I could be there. I hope to be there next weekend.
Damn Bush and his damn war.

Bush living next door and he is blasting away with a shotgun.
I wonder if he was getting pressure from his other neighbors, he should of know better. It is always better to go talk and work things out, I am betting Larry is going to be quiet from now on, I hope so.
Larry could have been shot by the police or the SS, Larry was not thinking.
