Help me connect the dots on this Franklin, Feith, PNAC, AIPAC thing...
The AIPAC spy ring were also players in the Plame leak. Chalabi was involved. But I have questions about the info we have on this mess.

First of all, why did Chalabi get burned? They said he was a mole for Iran and was manipulating the US to get us to invade Iraq. Why? What possible reason would Iran have for wanting us in Iraq? Chalabi would want us in Iraq. But I have a hard time believing Iran was behind Chalabi in trying to get us to invade Iraq.

So, classified info was passed from Chalabi to Iran. Chalabi is Iraqi - why would he have ties with Iran, which is an enemy of Iraq, and why would he want to pass along classified info when he knew it would cut off his CIA meal ticket? Did BushCo just discredit Chalabi when he was no longer useful (so they could pile the blame for finding NO WMD in Iraq on him)?

Franklin, Feith, Wolfowitz, etc. are all die hard NeoCons who follow Bush (and his father) with slavish devotion. It's hard to believe that they'd be off doing stuff that Bush hadn't ordered. Especially since they all have ties to Bush Sr. What reason would they have to pass classified info to AIPAC when they can just talk to Israel directly? Any of these guys could have had official meetings with Israel, who is an ally, and share just about any info they wanted. We do it all the time. Especially when their pals sit in the White House and can pick up the phone to get approval to declassify or share info (which the President has the authority to do). Why involve AIPAC? The only thing I could come up with was a sting to discredit AIPAC.

What is the BushCo tie to Iran? This has so many echos to Iran/Contra that I wonder what the deal is with Bush and Iran - what is their agenda? Was Iran/Contra and the current situation all about skimming money from backroom deals like Abramoff? Some shady BushCo/Iran deal that hasn't yet come to light?

Where does the Bush-Saudi lovefest figure into this? Did Bush get the Saudis to pull off 9-11, and then have to deliver something in return (and if so, what - burning AIPAC? Look the other way while the Saudis go nuke?)?

It seems odd that BushCo #1 was involved with Iran-Contra and the BCCI collapse, and BushCo #2 is involved with Plame/AIPAC and Chalabi's Petra Bank collapse. Was Chalabi a money laundry through his Petra Bank in addition to BCCI?

Some interesting info on Chalabi:

There are some serious dots that still need to be connected to make this all make sense. And somehow, I do believe, it's tied to the Plame leak case. If any of you have insight, I'd love to hear it.

I know that BushCo has been up to something dirty, but darn if I can figure out exactly what it is - this is one confusing mess!

Also read Justin Raimondo's back columns. Click on his latest one and he has previous ones about AIPAC and that investigation. He's been writing on this for quite some time.

2. On this one:

Well, after 9/11 everyone knew Iraq was the next target, Afghanistan was just a diversion (or a quick sweep to kill bin Laden so the patsy can't speak -- dead patsies are the best). IMO, Chalabi was there to 'help' the USA to set up a language they would use to introduce this war and to 'educate' the American people. As a convicted fraudulant banker, Chalabi probably passed info to Iran afterwards once they were in it, as you would expect from a fraudulant banker; opportunity!

I think it was reported that Chalabi is Shia, most of Iran is Shia also...

3. Hmm...
It's been reported that Chalabi was also neck deep with the Israelis, which doesn't match well with strong ties to Iran, since Iran is rabidly anti-Israel. So was Chalabi supposed to be some kind of multi-dealer who had no loyalties to anyone and just handed out information to anyone with cash? The CIA and Mossad didn't know this?

I think everyone knew Iraq was a target as soon as Bush was elected. Also, I read some stuff that the Brits were pushing us to deal with Iraq because of the problems with the no-fly zones. I had previously been thinking Blair was a dupe, but if they were pushing US to do something on Iraq, then the shoe is on the other foot.

Why are so many of the original players of Iran/Contra involved in this mess if something similar isn't going on behind the scenes? Could BushCo be trying some scheme to get Iran to give up nuke development through all this (although that seems unlikely since Iran would resist giving up nuke development as long as we're sitting in both Afghanistan and Iraq)? Could some other dirty tricks be going on involving the Iran/Contra guys that we don't know about yet? Could BushCo have planned from day one to clean out Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and Syria as has been using pawns as necessary to accomplish that?

5. Chalabi and Iran (Shi'a Muslims)were both wanting Saddam overthrown
Edited on Sun Aug-14-05 05:31 PM by wishlist
Chalabi's family were powerful in Iraq until Saddam's Baathist party took over and Chalabi has been trying to get Saddam overthrown for many years. Iran also wanted Saddam taken out of power and replaced by conservative Shi'a Iraqis they could make deals with. Chalabi used U.S. to depose Saddam so he and his tribe could get back in power. Chalabi represented himself as a secular Muslim who would open up Iraq to the west and not be under the control of fundamentalist Islamists. However, after U.S. invaded, in order to curry favor and seize power in Iraq, Chalabi has aligned himself with conservative Muslims under direction of powerful Ayatolla Sistani who has close ties with Iran.

The Iraqi Shi'ites under the influence of Sistani are now back in power with Chalabi as a deputy Prime Minister:

As of March 2004:
"Chalabi has amassed a fair amount of power he would like to preserve. In Newsweek, Christopher Dickey reports the staggering array of positions that Chalabi has come to control within the Governing Council. He is head of the economics and finance committees, which oversee the ministries of oil, finance, and trade, as well as the central bank and several private banks. He also runs the De-Baathification Commission, and thus—if he manages to hang on to the post—holds potentially vast control over the flow of personnel into, or out of, any future Iraqi government"

http://slate.msn.com/id/2096813

There has been a recent report that Iraqi leaders are making deals with Iran such as for Iran to supply electricity to Iraq. If this happens, Iraq oil profits and American reconstruction money given to the Iraqis could end up flowing to Iran. The prospect of Iraq and Iran being allies and both under the influence of fundamentalist Islamists is not what Bush and the neocons hoped to accomplish. It is no wonder that they don't know how to extricate our military from Iraq and are now cooking up plans to weaken Iran.

4. Here's another article that makes me think BushCo were using Chalabi...
...and then discarded him when his usefulness was past. It clearly states that Chalabi's Iranian connections were well known but ignored. So - why burn Chalabi for Iran connections when they already knew he had them and ignored them? What purpose was served by discrediting him?
