" Marine of the year Accused of Firing on Crowd in Mass.
LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) - A veteran recently named "Marine of the Year" for his service in Iraq was charged with attempted murder after firing a shotgun from his apartment window as a group of noisy revelers stood outside a nightclub, police said.

Two people were hit by bullet fragments and suffered minor injuries.

Daniel Cotnoir, 33, had called police minutes earlier to complain about the noise coming from the street shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday, The Lawrence Eagle-Tribune reported.

He later told authorities someone had thrown an empty bottle through his bedroom window and he feared for the safety of his wife and two daughters, who were home, the newspaper reported.

4. He was responsible for preparing soldiers' bodies for viewing.
He's obviously in need of help. I can only hope he gets the help he needs.

9. military
I was reading an article yesterday and it talked about the history of the military and what's it's like being a soldier. It said that when people join the military they have a good support system and that they're mainly taught how to kill and be killed. It went on to say that when they come back home and leave the military, they're pretty much alone. No more support system. What's worse, they may have physical limitations to deal with and if not physical, mental problems too. They have to deal with all of the horrible things they saw and did during the war, ALL ON THEIR OWN!!

After all of that training and now they have to try to live and adjust to a 'normal' life again.

I remember when my ex brother in law came back from Viet Nam. He never wanted to talk about anything that happened over there and we all understood........even though I'm sure we didn't fully understand.

Now, I'm not excusing this guy's behavior. Firing into a crowd of people is certainly unacceptable, even if they were making noise and bothering him. I just think, the military owes them more support when they leave the military. It's just a miracle that we don't hear of this kind of thing happening more often.

these boys and girls go from what they did in the military to Joe Civilian, there is a course they have to take where they get all kinds of overwhelming info, such as how to fill up a resume and how to negotiate for a job... it is a week course. My hubby did well because he had me behind him every step of the way

you are afraid somebody may be shooting at you. He was shot at

To this day we are still jumpy in this military house and there is no PTSD present

So before you call somebody an asshole, try to put yourself in his shoes

Then maybe again, this man needs some help, not to be called an A-hole and get used to it, more are coming home

13. that puts antoher spin on it
if this is PTSD... bear with me, it actually amkes sense in a strange way, (I am technically hispanic so bear with the language for a second) Them folks are darkies not that different from ragheads and night... throwing something at him, which forces a flahsback.... that bottle woudl be an explosive

Or it could be racial tension,

But in this case a flashback is a real possibitly and this man should be assesed for that... I hate the fact we don't have a VA that actually works, and if this is the case, get ready for more of this....

If this is racial tension... race riots may be around the corner... I hate to say this.

14. Lawrence is about 90% "Spanish", as they refer to it back there.
The 10% of white folk that still stay in that hellhole are bitter and hateful racists. I have friends like that back there. Very short fuses.
