a HA ... *now* they're chipping PEOPLE.
The 'Verichip' which you use to chip your dogs and cats will soon be on sale for people -- to carry around your medical history, or for other applications. Listening to the story on NPR now. FDA approved the device last October.

company link:
http://www.adsx.com/prodservpart/verichip.html

"VeriChip is a miniaturized, implantable radio frequency identification device (RFID) that has the potential to be used in a variety of security, financial, and other applications. About the size of a grain of rice, each VeriChip product contains a unique verification number and will be available in several formats. The verification number is captured by briefly passing a proprietary scanner over the VeriChip. A small amount of radio frequency energy passes from the scanner energizing the dormant VeriChip, which then emits a radio frequency signal transmitting the verification number. "

The radio story said that people are already using it overseas for security applications.

what would you do if your EMPLOYER wanted to chip YOU?

3. how long before it's mandatory?
Doubtless that'll be a feature of PATRIOT III passed after whatever MIHOP Bushler cooks up next, or maybe after he cancels elections. The Homeland Offense Gestapo is surely salivating at the prospect.

The threats to privacy and personal freedoms grow exponentially larger, as expected.

4. Ya know what??? I have an effing SS number, put THAT in a database
and have it say that I was born here, I have not participated in any "terrah" ops, (i.e. I haven't been trained at Fort Benning) and that I am "good to go". I already have a unique number assigned to me and I don't need any of their Orwellian madness buried under my skin, not unless of course they are up to no good, THEY not us.

GOP = Greedy Orwellian Poltroons

11. they're immanentizing the eschaton!
This can really split off the "foam at the mouth" fundies from the "corporate/nat'l security" repugs.

Why? Well, these chips have an implanted serial number. They were used on dogs and cats (beasts). If you get one, you've got "the number of the beast" on you. Only the minions of Satan would be pushing stuff like this on an unwary citizenry.

I don't see that ShrubCo would make it exactly manditory, but (for example) suppose that there's a smallpox scare, and they require getting 'chipped' to get the vaccine? You know, for tracking purposes. It's for your own good.

Democrats should oppose this, on privacy grounds. Put forth amedments to legislation to prohibits government funding for chipping people, or anything making being chipped be a condition for any governmental service or activity. Then watch while the repugs do their best to avoid having to cast a vote on it.

14. When I first saw the headline, I thought it was something new they...
were introducing at Abu Ghirab or Gitmo. You know, from Wood Chippers to People Chippers to Creamed Chipped People on Toast to Soylent Green...

I suppose I'll feel better after my government-mandated medication and my allocation of Victory Gin. We love Big Brother (or B-B as we chant during the daily two minutes of hate).

to do to His pee-ons.

http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/articleabduction.shtml

"An 'alien implant' is basically an object found in the body of an alleged alien 'abductee' that cannot be explained. Implants range from very small chip-like objects to much larger objects. Tests on some of the objects have allegedly revealed materials of an unknown origin, although this remains controversial.

Evidence Of Implants
In many cases, the implant is quite noticeable to the individual, and can either be removed or extracted using surgical means. In other instances, the individual remains completely unaware of the implant's presence in their body, and as a result the object ends up being there for quite some time.

Some suggest that they are devices through which an extraterrestrial intelligence can receive data transmitted back to them, while others believe that the implants are careless leftovers from Alien surgery, although this would seem inappropriate for such an apparently advanced species.

There are numerous organisations devoted to research into the subject, and some have come up with some interesting results, but nothing conclusive. This is one unexplained mystery that will likely remain unsolved for many years to come."
