Daddy is Protecting Me! President Bush is my Daddy!!!!!
I know there has been some writing about this phenomena by more qualified people than me since the Iraq Disaster began, but I have a new angle that I would like to introduce.

This protection response to The War seems to be used more often than not by Men and boys than by females. In fact, I believe all of the groups who are "protesting the protesters" in Crawford are groups led by men and organized by men. As well as their founders...are men.

(Now don't get all twisted up you men reading this. I am not being "reverse sexist" or whatever. :eyes:)

Female voters and candidate supporters have had to endure lots of stereotypical and often untrue labels when it comes to politics and voting over the last 85 years. Most recently it was the "Security Moms" and before that "Soccer Moms" and before that there have been many "explanations" of the woman's vote. And it was usually described as "those girls vote for the Man who projects the most Fatherly protection" type crap or it would fault them as just dumb broads who voted like their husband told them to.

Who is out in front on the Anti-War Message right now? And who has pushed for 9/11 investigations?

Cindy Sheehan
Code Pink
Cynthia Mckinney
Kirsten Breitwieser
Nancy Pelosi

I know there are many other women in the forefront I am not listing here. But what bothers me is that there aren't a whole hell of a lot of male politicians or citizens out in front on this.

So who the hell is the weaker sex?

:)

Actually, you are quite correct...women are out front on this.

Why? Good question.

I want to know why women are usually considered weak and men strong, when clearly Dumbbutt is the most cowardly person on Earth for simply not talking to Cindy.

41. Hi, Ripley
I've been around...just doing the voyeur bit most of the time.

You know, there are men that are supporting Cindy and the other brave women who are pushing this...but I have always thought that it would be the women who eventually would make Bush accountable for his actions.

You see, Bush plays the macho guy's guy role, and he knows how to humiliate men. He is scared to death of women. Women are either mothers/enablers, or enemies. Look at Condi and Hughes. These women act as his mother, so he puts them in positions of authority around him. They never tell him no, and they keep him happy. Other women...say, Christine Todd Whitman, for example...are not seen as mothers by Bush. He sees them as necessary evils. He didn't like Christine and saw her as a threat, so he offered her a cabinet level position and then immediately made it a non-cabinet level position. He humiliated her and made her worthless (in his mind). Those women that he can't control (Cindy for example) he totally ignores because he is scared to death of them. Any other man in his position would at least have talked to Cindy before it blew up in his face. Not George. He ignores her because he is scared. He will continue to ignore her until he starts to ridicule her. Then, it will all be over.

I think you are exactly right that it will take the women to end this insanity.

Some men around Dumbknob would get a clue. And report his loser ass faking tough-stuff to one of those gossip rags. But that is secondary..

What kind of PERSON is the President of The United States of America...who DOES NOT MEET WITH a Mother of a soldier killed in the War he started?

Women are speaking out LOUD, and it makes me wonder why DR. DEAN AIN'T THERE!!!

48. Good analysis
I've always hated W's body-language and tone of voice, especially when he's talking tough. It just sets off my radar like mad: condescending, bullying, I'm bigger than you and I could beat you up. All the Bush women disappear into the background once they marry into that clan.

Yet I've always been puzzled by the number of women he's promoted -- and I think you elucidate it well. Thanks.

Hekate

15. good article
Excerpts:

Bush is the upper-class mess-up who ends up on top anyway. It is subliminal: If you mess up, don't worry. The reason that becomes important, I think, is that we live in a culture of individualism. And if you lose a job, it's your fault you lost the job. It's your credit if you do well, and your fault if you do badly. And so for him to be the mess-up that gets ahead anyway is sort of an end-run around this whole burdensome ideology of individualism.

BuzzFlash: So it's a triumph of white males through all this adversity of civil rights, "quota systems" for minorities and feminism. There's a man who's been a complete screw-up, and now he's President of the United States. I'm a blue-collar male and I don't care if he's wealthy. He's standing up for the white guy being the head of the household and the decision maker.

4. since the beginning of the beginning
women have been pushed back and made to think of themselves as the "weaker sex" when in fact without women none of us would be here. It's amazing how the church and "they" have reimagined the true story of God and the female power involved with that story.

Men are willing to do anything and everything to keep the power. If you don't believe me, just look at the neartest neocon.

Peace!

Malkin is a female who is against Cindy, at least her puppeteers would have us think that.
I think I saw some men in the pics of the rally, not ones in sherrif uniforms or dove-hunting jumpsuits.
John Conyers is doing good work, challenging activists to support Cindy.

Yeah, Conyers and some others have risen to the occasion by lifting a hand and placed it on a pen and written words in a letter to the Weed In Charge.

Doesn't exactly compare now does it? (not to diss Conyers who has done a lot...but I find your reference odd.)

The head of the roman household had the absolute right to murder his wife or any of his children.

So, maybe it is about ancient roman history, and my gender is just feeling blowback. j/k Maybe in the hypermasculine militarized post-911 political climate, that liberal compassion and being against the war are not seen as winning strategies by spineless dems.

Or maybe it's because the woman politicians are all able to make brave stands because its the right thing to do? I think its less of a danger for a woman politician to be out front on this type of issue.

29. Where do I begin with that post?
1. You asked me why I used "gladiator" and I replied with a line from your very own profile.

2. You thusly responded with a very awful statement: The head of the roman household had the absolute right to murder his wife or any of his children. Quite an interesting statement you choose to make considering some guy drinking a case of Keystone Light is shooting his gun off near Cindy's people.

3. ...and my gender is just feeling blowback. j/k

What exactly do you mean by that statement? I don't even get it if it is a joke.

And then this:

4. You said: I think its less of a danger for a woman politician to be out front on this type of issue.

What danger is there for a male politician to be out front on this type of issue? You mean they look like a P****? or What?

Spell it out.

1. Ah you quoted from the movie I've only seen once, I was really wondering and honestly confused. :-) I better update my profile!

2. Well I was trying to point out some extreme versions of the father knows best concept, I guess I failed. And yes it's horrible.

3. Gender Blowback from too many millenia of being the ones *most* responsible for the dominant male paradigm? ;-) ok, so it wasnt very funny or clear. Sorry for being obtuse.

4. Why is it less of a danger for women to be anti-war? I think that danger was seen by many democrats who were afraid of being seen as opposed to the war. Militaristic triumphalism wins the day!

Women must be the anti-war voice in our stage play that is American politics. The perceived danger I'm referring to is the supposed loss of votes that a would-be male politician supporter of Cindy Sheehan showing up at her side this week.

And, yeah I do mean they look like a "pussy" to people who pronounce the b in subtle. But that 10-11% demographic in the middle is who both sides chase.

All that being said, I 100% agree with your OP, and I feel it is disgraceful that so many male senators and congresMEN are being so timid. I suppose many of them are afraid of that original pro-war vote I guess. And that many are on vacation. ( they have to get on with their lives)

Peace Ripley, We are on the same side here really! :hi:

What you have written, and supported throughout this thread is classic male bashing, and fostering a self satisfied echo chamber. Telling people not to be offended, does not absolve you from offending.

"Can you act any more insulted and turn around and attack me with the most preposterous complex of all? "

Other than revealing your lack of compositional skills, what exactly does this mean?

I didn't blame women for pushing Bush over the top. I was making an illustration, and I don't buy the bullshit any more than you do. It was a Rove fabrication, in my opinion. What I object to is your belief that you are not male bashing, and your admonishment that any male who is should get over it, when you know damn well you are. Yes, the genders see conflict and the world differently, but that does not make my gender flawed, as your supposition posits.

BTW: I knew I'd get your attention with that Coulter remark. Thank's for taking the bait.:hi:

It's always women, who want to put an end to war.

Gee, I do not remember when "The Lysistrata" was written, but it was one of those Greek comedies. The women all made a pact: no more sex until the men ended the war.

Maybe men haven't changed so much in 3,000 years. 2,500 years? I don't know. A long time ago.
