For Cindy
I really couldn't sleep last night so I decided to see if I could do something useful with my time. I had this vision in my head and I had to get it down on paper. The picture below I made as a modification of the now-infamous tank cartoon - so whoever the original artist is, let me know as they deserve credit for it as well. I hope they don't mind. I'm a terrible artist by myself. Below it is a piece I wrote last night/this morning that provides the narration for the picture.
I posted in the Lounge, but I don't know if it's getting any hits - this place isnt like the vBulletin boards I'm more accustomed to.

A Lady stands alone
And faces down the night
She will not sit or sleep
While putting up her fight
Her will is overwhelming
Her courage, it compels
For not a single moment
Does she forget the ones who fell.

The ones who come to visit
To her their stories tell;
Sent to a place of fire
From heaven into hell.
They’ve heard the shots ‘a-ringing
They’ve had to drop and roll
But the hardest sound of all
Is the lonely church bell’s toll.

‘Why did they have to do this,
Leave their freedom and their lives?
Were they sent there for a truth,
Or was it all just lies?’
She wants to know the answer
And so she won’t back down;
She’s camping out in Crawford
Until she meets that clown.

From a ditch she called out ‘Why?’
He was in that ranch inside.
He heard the lady’s words,
And did his best to hide.
No longer could it last,
No longer could it go.
That night he had to face her
She simply had to know.

She asked him all her questions,
He stopped and said ‘Now, whoa –
You’ve asked a lot of things,
But who else wants to know?’
She looked behind her shoulder,
And to her great surprise,
Behind her there were millions
A light to fill the skies.

‘That light is with me, George.
It’s very strong and bright.
This time you must be honest,
Or we’ll bring it all to light.’
He didn’t know what to say
His face was filled with fright.
For a simple little lady
Brought down his world that night.

The lady stood alone
And called out to the light:
‘Thank you so for helping,
to stave away the night.’
And in that perfect moment,
The light to her replied:
‘No – Thank you, Cindy.
You’ve made it turn out right.’

12. Makes me want to say, I can't help but think
About what she's done. Given her face and her name to the whole world. The whole bloody, cruel, impossible world. That is so brave. I can't get over it. Mr Pitt was so right about what he said. Her son would be so proud. I am so proud, just as a mom. With people like this, I know, the monsters cannot win. They won't be able to take us down, not nearly as far as they want, with people like this. NO way.

The suffering that is sure to come bothers me. A lot. But knowing that, in the end, no matter how many years it takes, these people cannot POSSIBLY win, gives me hope. Gives me light.

I could never have done what she's done. I am so thankful she is there to do it, and I wish I could give her some of what she's given us. Hope. But the only reason she's there, the only reason she could do it in the first place is that BushCo took away her hope. This is what is left. One who will not back down. Ever. Nothing left to lose.

These people better learn to fear the people we become when they take away our hope, and try to leave us with hatred and lies. Don't you think? That's how it seems to me. They had better learn to live with some of the fear they've tried to instill in us. Fear the rage of America. Fools. That's what I'd like to say to "them"

This is just the beginning, and none of those BushCo planners came even close to predicting it. Get a small taste, BushCo. You haven't seen anything yet. There is nothing you can do. It's too late. For YOU.

You can never run far enough. You'll never have enough money to buy safety. You understand greed. You do not understand rage. But you will.

If they threw a lottery right now, on who would have the privilege of throwing the switch on the convicted treasonous traitors in office right now...can you imagine how many millions would volunteer?

Think about it BushCo. Imagine in your mind, the throngs of thousands upon millions that would gladly take off your head.

Eat cake. It just happens.

14. I just hope the events in Crawford wake the electorate...
A true shakeup in 2006 can be had if Cindy's protest continues to hit a nerve with the American public. A truly moderate person (D or R) would never stand to see crosses and American flags desecrated in such a manner. I just hope enough of them come out to change the face of Congress. If that happens maybe we can force there to be some accountability in the WH.

Thanks for the words of support everyone. The reactions are encouraging to me. Cindy's actions have been inspiring to us all, and if I can help spread and/or reinforce that then I feel I'm helping. My biggest wish would be for her to see this. The more we encourage one another the stronger we will all be, the more reason to stand up for our country in this time of need. Any DU'ers still in Crawford?
