Camp Casey Special Event Ham Station |
|
Beginning sometime this coming Saturday I will be setting up a Ham Radio station at Camp Casey, or close by. Crawford Peace House has given their go-ahead, so far, I have heard nothing negative from the Camp. I will be using HF frequencies probably 20 meters to allow for worldwide communication. I will be operating with battery power with solar cell backup. In ham radio jargon, this is known as a special event station, usually set up to honor an event or place. Only licensed ham radio operators will be able to check in and talk, but I can allow others to speak from my end as long as I am present.
If there are any other hams that would like to help out, you are welcome. I have all the needed equipment, but I don't know how long I can talk for a stretch.
Any ideas for what to call the station and help with what to say to those that disagree would be welcome as well.

I'm 5x's wife and a ham, also. Will look forward to assisting with the station. Should be lots of fun if we can get some good contacts from all over the place.
