Cindy Sheehan: cat-herder extraordinaire! |
|
Yesterday, someone posted the idea that support of Cindy Sheehan has morphed into some sort of "groupthink." I always try to examine new ideas, so I read the thread, paused, thought for awhile, then said, "Nah." :)
Cindy Sheehan is not perfect. Hell, no one is! You've got your shit. I've got my shit. I'm working on my shit and hope you're working on yours. After all, that is the way of progressives, is it not?
For the past several years, many of us have felt leaderless and rudderless. Cindy Sheehan has become a leader and a hand on the rudder. Moreover, she seems to have discovered the secret of cat herding. :) Progressives are not all of one mind, but most of us are very much against the war in Iraq and we've finally found a rallying point--a woman with a beautiful heart who lost a son in Iraq. She can say it better than any of us, so we are drawn to her, each in our own unique way. I, for one, am happy to be "herded" just now. :)

Because it is the right thing to do. I have equal compassion for those who have lost their children in Iraq and Afghanistan, regardless of their political affiliation.

3. That's the way we should all feel. |

I've been working on softening my heart a bit, even toward those I consider ignorant. It's hard when they have hurt me so much, but I feel that some of them could be won over. Sadly, I doubt my family will ever wake up. They've drunk too much Kool-Aid over too many years. They were fascist when fascism wasn't cool. :(
