because we report the news almost everyone else is afraid to report. We also believe that we represent the interests of mainstream Americans who want less government, less taxes, more freedom, more effective national security and traditional American values.

and then the emaiL (written by some guy named, christopher ruddy) gets good....

We're proud of that achievement. We're also proud to tackle the tough subjects many media outlets - from the left to right - won't touch.

Earlier this year I was the first significant conservative to editorialize against a prolonged occupation of Iraq or for nation-building there.

As I said at that time, I support President Bush and fully supported his effort to remove Saddam Hussein.

Our longtime readers will remember that shortly after 9/11 our NewsMax Magazine cover featured Saddam with a shoulder-fired missile, with the headline "The Evil One." He was the No. 1 target in the war against terror, and thanks to President Bush he's been stopped dead in his tracks. Mission accomplished.

But it is time for a new strategy in Iraq, I editorialized. I took some heat for that column, but now more and more readers and opinion leaders are agreeing that Iraq is a quagmire.

In the end, circulation at NewsMax continues to boom because our readers appreciate that we can remain loyal to our president while offering constructive criticism.

They also appreciate our comprehensive coverage of the new book on Sen. Hillary Clinton by author Edward Klein, "The Truth About Hillary: What She Knew, When She Knew It, and How Far She'll Go to Become President."

Many conservatives and others have differing positions on this controversial new book, and we respect those views.

However, when a major liberal writer such as Edward Klein - who bears tremendous journalist credentials, with top editing positions at the New York Times, Newsweek and Vanity Fair - pens a revealing biography of Hillary Clinton that is released by a major publishing house, it deserves a fair hearing.

I was shocked that some media outlets even banned the author, claiming his allegations about Hillary were too personal or salacious. As it turned out, many of these claims were made before anyone even saw a copy of the book, and a read of it showed it made no such personal allegations against Sen. Clinton.

As I look back on how we have grown, I remember when I started a small monthly publication in New York in 1990. In many ways it was the precursor of NewsMax.

At the time, I sent a copy of the publication to former President Ronald Reagan, who kindly sent me a personal letter back. His letter hangs outside my office today - and continues to inspire me.

Let me end this "thank you" to our readers with President Reagan's letter to me:
