Cindy Sheehan is not running for office. She's not nominated for SCOTUS, ambassador, or postmaster general. THEREFORE, when you start whining about her "credibility" or her divorce, or her sponsors, or the things she's said once upon a time, remember: She doesn't care what you think.

Really, do you think smearing her is going to hurt her more than the loss of her son? Do you think if enough rabid talk show attack dogs say mean things about her, she'll go home?

She's not John Kerry. She doesn't care about you. She only wants to talk to one guy, and he's not saying anything.

I want to know how he would answer her. Those words and thoughts would be very important. You now it would be lame. Cindy has a lot of credibility so she would relate their conversation accurately. I think that would help the movement to end the war. Just my 2¢.

If you disagree with them, even on fine points, they will attack you with false allegations and repeat them until they stick. Doing so accomplishes three things:

It makes them look better in their own eyes by putting down everyone else.

It instills simpler and more easily remembered talking points to their kool-aide guzzling supporters.

And most importantly, it spares them from having to actually DEBATE the issues. Attack and smear your opponents, which takes them off-topic and makes them go on defense, and you never have to explain yourself.

What they don't understand, and what you point out, is that this method doesn't work so well on someone who isn't really an opponent, just a grieving mom asking a simple question.
