Ford Commercials Driving me Nuts!
This one drives me crazy. Tonight while watching the Yankee game this commercial must have come on at every break. Maybe it was on 20 times total during the game.

First the music sounds like a blind melon song from the early 90s, can not put my finger on the name.

The honest sounding girl tells everybody that if you buy a ford with their employee discount you become a member of the "family" and she welcomes me and my family ever so pleasantly to their family.

Why this drives me nuts? Partly because the ad is on all the time no matter what show is on. Next it implies that I need to buy a ford to have a sense of family. All the happy happy people in the ad had no life till they bought a ford right? Also the ad, the sounds in it and the people in it seem so generic-lets go for every stereotype we can get in 30 seconds.

Commercials today are so bad, so silly. :D

1. So, they didn't talk about last week's layoffs at Ford?
I guess that would kind of spoil the "family" image, though, wouldn't it? :eyes:

2. They left that part out
:D

Those people laid off are not in the "family" anymore I guess-the money they saved on them means even more ads probably :(

Check out this article in our paper from last week.

5. Here is what gets me
From the article

"Ford's firings reflect the cold reality facing today's employees, workforce experts said."

Gee well maybe its time to start talking about how that reality sucks and can be changed. All the experts and the media seem to just want to accept things as they are as "reality" instead of questioning it.

4. That's okay, there's a Ford ad in Miami that looks like a Rico Suave video
It's spectacularly ridiculous, all the cars have huge custom rims and there are girls dancing in skimpy bikinis throughout.

The worst part is a girl rubbing her ass on the hood of a brand new Ford GT (price: $200,000). I wonder if the owner knew they were doing that.

6. Is she pretty?
Do you think she would give me a hug if I bought a small Ford, or would I have to buy a large SUV?

9. They already had "voluntary terminations" at Ford Credit...
They offered a package, with a statement that if enough employees took the "out", there would be no need for layoffs.

I think that Ford Motor started with the voluntary thing about 2 or 3 weeks ago.
