9. Definitely something tasteful
There could be a few versions. Casey Sheehan would be OK, and a way to say thanks and be supportive. Long-term we should probably have something more simple. Something that expresses support for the troops as well as disagreement with Bush's policies.

Although co-opting the religious high ground has its appeal.

could do this as a fund-raiser. Can anyone here pass this along to Cindy - perhaps through TexasLady.

13. If you get any info, post it here...
I PMed TexasLady and asked her to pass this along to Cindy and/or the Peace House people (as if they're not busy enough!). Perhaps when the dust settles, they can use this as a fund raiser and something to help raise awareness.

I always liked the use of white crosses for the memorial. But now Mr. Pickup Truck just gave the movement a symbol.

I'm a graphic's designer, and I would have no problem doing a big high res version for free --if someone will take care of the manufacturing. I don't wan't money -- I just want to help.

25. I think this is perfect!!!
I have been playing with some ideas for a magnet for my car. I haven't wanted to put something on that seems angry, even though I am, because I truly feel that we need to unite people not continue to divide everyone. Personally, I don't think we are as divided as the current administration would like everyone to believe and don't want to give that idea anymore attention. We need to find a common thread. Most people I know that voted for Bush just don't pay attention to the news and have no clue what is really going on. I have tried to tell many of them, but they don't want to listen. I can almost understand it, reality sucks. But this is short and to the point. I bet only a few will even make the connection between the 'we care' vs 'we don't care' chant that the RWers have been yelling. But that's ok. I think this speaks volumes and gets to the heart of it, we care. I love it!

P.S My idea for a magnet has been "Support our troops? Enlist!"

I like the idea of Casey's name because it's now symbolic of the soldiers that lost lives.

I like some of the other slogans too.

29. "Camp Casey" might be a good choice
You can't have anything too generic, something like "We care" in a cross could mean almost anything.

32. This I can support
I hate those fucking yellow magnets, I come close to foaming at the mouth when I see them. This however, I would put one of these on my car and fuck anyone who didn't like it.
One thing though whoever does this better register it as intelectual property or some mfer will be using it to make a quick buck on.

so the connection with Gold Star Families for Peace is graphically displayed, rather than poss mistaken for "Gold Star Mothers"

35. I like the design of a white cross, gold star in the center & "We Care"
People would ask what it means, and we can tell them the whole story of the Gold Star Mothers, Camp Casey, and the Patriotic Theme Song of the Republicans, i.e., "We don't care." I think this is one of the very best ideas a DU'er has come up with. My funds are so tight they squeak, but I'd buy one of these in a heartbeat.

I wish there were a way to create crosses with a name for each soldier, but that would be so many that no one would be able to fund it. Then you could order a cross, and you would get a cross with whatever soldier's name happened to be on it. Sort of like in the Vietnam era, when they were issuing MIA bracelets and you never knew whose name you would be wearing.

Here's to you, Junkdrawer :patriot:

36. how about a DO in there-
we DO care

From Operation Truth site, we got some 'dog-tags'- my 12yr old was asked about his today- he said it's a web site where the real soldiers write.-

A great 'foot in the door' for kids his age....- i'd like to see something with the white cross and caring with the idea that we care enough to want the rest of the troops home whole, no more need for white crosses.
