A Big Honkin' White Cross |
|
Twenty feet tall and stuck in the middle of Camp Casey. Not as a sign of religion, but as a sign of peace, and a reflection of the man of peace. A picture is worth a thousand words and just this mental picture alone is worth more than a million words from war-mongering Republicans that have latched onto religion and the cross like it belongs to only them. Paint it in flourescent white, so that it shines like a beacon in the night, to show the Republican supporters of war and killing that Jesus does not approve. And they do not own God and Jesus don't like killing - no matter what the reason for. Blessed are the peacemakers.

3. The cross is a more politically powerful symbol... |
|
the bigger the better. Although I am a longtime fan of the peace symbol, nothing could be as powerful as a cross to get the people on our side and against the violent war-mongerers. I propose it purely as a political weapon. And a powerful weapon it is. We just have to prevent them from burning it.

10. No...burning the cross is a bit KKK.... |

They would shrink like werewolves before such a strong religious symbol. I say this half in anger and half-seriously, because they have no respect for our troops or religion or life.

Too much a sign of religion and not enough of the peace behind it all. Ironic, isn't it?

They would bring out a ten-ton stone with the Ten Commandments carved on it. They are not pussies at using religion as a political weapon.

But the Klan would come with gasoline to burn it down. With guns and hoods and clubs, to beat or kill whomever was in their way. Is this where we are headed? My cross is bigger than your cross so therefore, it is better? Those little ol' crosses on the side of the road don't mean anything, we'll just run over them. They have to be big ones before we respect them. That the way it is down in Texas. It's a whole 'nother country.

I think the 1/2 mi long row of crosses makes a bigger impact.
If anything, I might have a cross and wreath dedicated to the unknown soldiers (do we have any?).

When it comes to religion, these people think big...How many of these righteous brethren do you think will come out and comdemn this dastardly act?
