Bush brings in an Iraqi ringer (again)
by Sharon Jumper
Mon Aug 15th, 2005 at 19:13:53 PDT

I saw a few passing references to "May Hasan Lamotte" yesterday in the print media. She was portrayed as "an Iraqi woman who just had to drive to Crawford to tell Cindy Sheehan that her son died for a noble cause. One news report yesterday said: *"An Iraqi woman who moved recently to the United States, drove with her husband from Washington, D.C., to thank Sheehan for her sacrifice. But the woman, May Hasan Lamotte, 37, did not agree with Sheehan's call to pull the troops out of Iraq. I came after reading about Miss Cindy. They think their children are dead for nothing, and I am one who got freedom. I am grateful for her son and American soldiers. Everybody thinks (Casey) died for nothing. He gave his life as many other brave soldiers have to give me and my country freedom," she said.

This "Iraqi woman" then showed up on Hardball to swiftboat Cindy. Something about her didn't strike me as being right. There was a passing reference to her being married to an American journalist.

Military intelligence skills and google, don't fail me now, I thought. More on what I found on the flip....
Sharon Jumper's diary :: ::

The faux Iraqi woman on Hardball is married to Greg Lamotte with Voice of America (VOA). I know stuff about them, but decided to find their public website, lest I inadvertently disclose classified info.

Here you go, from http://www.voanews.com/english/About/fastfacts.cfm
The Voice of America (VOA) is an international multimedia broadcasting service funded by the U.S. government through the Broadcasting Board of Governors.

Draw your own conclusions about what this agency is...and why a wife of one of their "reporters" was put on national tv to attack a grieving mother.

She referenced things that her uncles told her, but never discussed her own experiences in Iraq. She's probably never even lived there, I bet.

<snip>

my bad, he is a REPORTER, not the head of the voice of america.

7. Voice of America
Voice of America is broadcast around the world. It is the US propaganda machine...sometimes valuable usually a tool of the corporations. It is often broadcast across borders and often jammed by offended countries.

15. I saw this coming
Yesterday on Wolf Blitzer they showed a blogger from Iraq who was towing the rw party line/lie. The woman covering the blog reports made an effort to say that he is associated with US government.

They are going to pull every rabid, mangy rabbit out of their hat-o-evil that they can possibly conjure. This ho for imperialism is just one that we will see.

Gee, what about the Iraqi-Americans that Cindy had lunch with yesterday? Na, that doesn't catapult shrub's propaganda.

It's just like that Iraqi woman at the State of the Union. :eyes: She was also at the RNC convention talking. Some here at DU looked info up on her and found out tons of good stuff on her. They can't find any true Iraqi's.

There's a space between the pictures of Jennifer Janin and Jim Malone where Lamotte's photo should be. Link: http://www.voanews.com/english/correspondents.cfm

26. After the Kuwaiti princess
who lied to Congress to get another war started, and the Chalabi gang of crooks, used by Bush (who later said he didn't know him) and Judith Miller to sell this war, you would think Chris Matthews would know better. Unless he's one of them, of course.

She's probably one of Chalabi's Iraq Expat group, who is paying paid, as Chalabi was, with our tax dollars to deceive the American people.

I cannot watch that show anymore ~ they continue to underestimate the intelligence of the American people.

27. Is that the same Greg Lamotte
Edited on Tue Aug-16-05 05:19 AM by drm604
as the CNN correspondent? http://tinyurl.com/bvao6

On Edit: I think it is the same guy. This page shows CNN correspondent Greg Lamotte, and this page shows VOA reporter Greg Lamotte. They look like the same guy to me.

On 2nd Edit:This may be completely innocent. He was apparently laid off from CNN in 2001. So there's probably no nefarious connection between CNN and VOA.

28. Apparently, Chris Mathews made her look stupid ...
on Hardball.

I can't say for sure because I didn't personally see it, but the interview was discussed here:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4359468

Don't know if Tweety allowed her on Hardball to be a propaganda channel, or if he brought her on to debunk her (by making her look stupid).

these chimp apologists really need to get a grip. They really are making their little oil monkey look worse, and he was doing a catastrophically successful job of that himself.

31. Someone should remind this stupid woman that the new Iraqi constitution
as of today contains NO guarantees of rights for the women of Iraq; and in fact, it is looking as though Sharia law will determine what rights women will have in Iraq. So, it is back to the dark ages, with women treated as the property of men, to be used and abused as men see fit. Way to "bring freedom" to the Iraqi people, George.

your research now confirms my suspicions.

A Bush plant to try and steer the message away from Cindy. Just as the rest of those yahoos are "countering" Cindy's protest.

What a freakin' disgrace Bush has made of this country.

With Bush's run amok policies, its like watching a family being ripped apart right before our very eyes.
