Recent Nessie sightings a hoax (Fake Loch Ness Monster) |
|
http://heritage.scotsman.com/topics.cfm?tid=8&id=1788802005The task of building the fake Nessie fell to a Buckinghamshire special effects company, Crawley Creatures, run by film veteran Jez Harris, who was responsible for the character Jabba the Hutt in the Star Wars film Return of the Jedi and also created models for the BBC series Walking with Dinosaurs.
He revealed the fake Nessie was moulded as a cross between a plesiosaurus, the carnivorous reptile which roamed the seas up to 200 million years ago, and the popular image of the monster. SNIP Chris Shaw, the network's senior programme controller, said: "The Loch Ness Monster is one of the world's most enduring myths and we thought it would be fascinating to see if the general public, fed on a diet of movie special effects, could still believe in Nessie. The results are really quite surprising."

1. This just muddies the waters in the search for the REAL Loch Ness Monster |
|
Like the one I raised from an egg in my bathtub.
I eventually freed it in Lake Wallenpaupak.
We were both was very sad. It didn't want to leave me behind.
I had to trick it into chasing a Coelecanth that I threw into the water.

If I ever find myself near Lake Wallenpaupak, don't go swimming.
Additional note to self: Bring fishing gear.
