CINDY SHEEHAN'S AGENDA
Edited on Tue Aug-16-05 08:28 AM by dogday
It's impossible not to appreciate the pain and anguish that Cindy Sheehan, now camped out by President Bush's Texas ranch, has felt since her soldier son, Casey, was killed in action in Iraq.

Even Sheehan's belief that her son died in what she now terms "a dishonorable cause" is, in a way, understandable — even though most of the families of those killed in the War on Terror would strongly disagree with her.

But Cindy Sheehan's vigil in hopes of getting a second meeting with the president (their first was last year, two months after Casey's death) has attracted widespread media attention.

Indeed, her new campaign as the so-called "peace mom" has energized the antiwar movement, fueled by constant and favorable coverage from the national news reporters — now bivouacked in Crawford, Texas, bored silly and more than willing to portray her as "the symbol for the entire antiwar movement."

This is the most biased piece of fiction I have ever seen in the Yahoo news. I don't like to post the negative, but this needs to be seen by everyone. New York Post clearly slams Cindy terribly....

5. I am not sure, but they don't seem to
come out with rotten pieces that slam such as this one. To me Yahoo usually tries to inform. This piece was an intentional slam, not even news but just some ahole's opinion who writes it and it becomes news, people read this and think truth and it is crap....

Like this part

This is so totally false. A clear majority stand with Cindy...

3. I chose "not at all"
As my recommendation for this story.

Where do they get off saying "even though most of the families of those killed in the War on Terror would strongly disagree with her"???

I guess they have polled ALL of them to know that MOST disagree.

What a bunch of rubbish.

4. this is gibberish taken from the New York Post
so of course it is biased fiction. Let it pass, they can shout all they want - she's not going anywhere and neither are we.

6. It's also a mischaracterization to call it a 'meeting' in 2004.
She was used for furniture -- a photo op backdrop. He didn't even know her name or Casey's name. He mouthed empty platitudes. It was all about him! He exploited her and Casey's death for his own personal aggrandizement.

7. "agenda" = things to be done
Of course Cindy has an agenda. Since when did "agenda" become a dirty word. "hidden agenda" is bad, but her agenda is anything but hidden-- clearly she is speaking for a certain segment of the population in asking Bush to state an acceptable reason for the war and I presume in the absence of an acceptable reason, to end said war......

I always think its interesting the word choices propagandists use-- carefully chosing words which push certain buttons. Like "war on terror," what the hell is that anyway. You mean the war in Iraq?
