Does your support of Cindy include opposition to the occupation?
My impression in the past has been that most posters on DU are pro-occupation. Suddenly, supporting Cindy's action is big, and while it's not her main point, she is calling for troops to be brought home now. So, did people on DU suddenly change their view, or did I only read threads that were mostly added to by pro-occupation people, or are most DU people still pro-occupation but supporting Cindy?

1. You mean to say most on DU were pro-occupation of IRaq?
I think you were very mistaken, if that's the case.

2. No.
My stance has been to bring the troops home, let the UN send in troops to handle the reconstruction and the US pay HEAVY reparations for the genocide of the Iraqi people.
Iraq was a self-sustaining country. There is NO reason Halliburton should be getting bids to rebuild it. The money should have been going to locals to rebuild THEIR own country.
Iraq has been a boondoggle from Day 1.

6. i was anti-war in 2003 and i am anti-war in 2005
No change in my position. We need to GET OUT. If they have a civil war, they will have it anyways, nothing we can do to stop it.

8. Bring the troops home
but Halliburton MUST go first.
Our troops are only there to lend an air of legitimacy to Halli burton's "occupation".
Possibly some troops could remain in a non-combat humanitarian role along with UN forces in the same role, we do have a moral obligation to help re-build Iraq, maybe some "contractors" profits could go towards that effort.

9. You mean the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq?
I think your impression is wrong. Of course I oppose the occupation of Iraq. What do you think is going on? What threads are you reading? This sounds rather like a "are you still beating your wife" question.

10. Not meaning this as an attack, but I think you have an apt SN
I would be surprised if even 10% of DUers support the Occupation, let alone a majority.

13. I've read very few posts of people who support
the occupation on this board. I'd say a vast majority believe the war has been immoral from the start and we shouldn't be there in the first place. A small minority believe that now that we are there, we should stay to stabilize things, but like I say, that's a small minority. Like other posters have said - are you sure it was THIS board that you've been reading to get that impression?

14. We've been anti-war and anti-occupation since the beginning
I don't know who you've been reading.

I'm sure there are some who support the occupation because we have made such a mess that we can't just leave, but they are few and far between.

15. You need to go to that "other" site, we're not pro-occupation
we're "pro-terrorist" :eyes:
It never ceases to amaze me the things freepers make up in their small little minds. I wonder if the U.S. got invaded, how they would feel when they brought out all their guns to try to stop an occupying force and saw themselves on the news being called terrorists...
