Anti-war protester Kathy Nikeef of Santa Fe, New Mexico, carries damaged crosses taken from a symbolic roadside cemetery representing Americans killed in Iraq, on the road leading to the ranch of U.S. President George W. Bush in Crawford, Texas, August 16, 2005. Dozens of the symbolic crosses were knocked down by Waco resident Larry Northern, 46, driving his vehicle late August 15, who was later charged by police with criminal mischief. REUTERS/Jason Reed

9. You said it!
In response to the "we don't care" attitude and the hatred and the bigotry of the RW, this should be our refrain. Every time they chant that they don't care, we need to respond that we shall overcome.

We need to resurrect this song as an anthem and repeatedly assert -- along with Cindy and the other Gold Star families and our troops and the Iraqi and Afghani people -- that we shall overcome the BushCorp culture of war, misery, destruction, and death in favor of Peace and its fruits.

23. "ain't gonna let no body 'run' them down..."
"run, us off, push us down"
"ain't gonna let nobody turn away"
"gonn keep on waitin"
"keep on stayin"
"stayin 'till he comes around"

(apologies to the better freedom writers, but this song has been morphing in my brain all day)

i'm so GRATEFUL to be a liberal too Myrna and Stephanie- it hurts, but pain is a blessing, it tells you something is wrong, so you can make changes.

4. The people at Camp Casey (especially Cindy) are courageous and
determined.

I'm so proud to see them keeping up the protest. Their continued peaceful acts show how demented and hateful someone like Larry Northern really is.

11. Waco resident Larry Northern
That should probably read "Whacko Waco resident Larry Northern."

What an asshat!! An incredibly stupid, obtuse asshat!!

He'll go down in history as the bozo who mowed down a memorial to dead servicemembers!!

12. Is he 46?
This thread has him as 59.

Either way, he should be ashamed and convicted of a hate crime.

Not even a little Loreal for men will hide that age. He's old enough to have served in Vietnam, yes?

16. We have the pics and the videos for that. I think it hurts a lot of
good people to leave them down, though, so I say for their sake let them put them back up.

18. Powerful images...
That my friends is a real symbol of what right wing America REALLY is about.

Disrespect. Hatred. Hypocrisy. Selfishness.

If there is one thing that is simulataeously harmless and dangerous it is a gathering in the name of peace.

Totally harmelss...but extremely dangerous to the war profiteers.

20. I think they should order more and set them up on the 180 acres offered
I just read at the iconoclast that they have been offered 180 acres across from the 1 acre that Cindy talked about in her diary.

"According to Dianne Wilson, a local landowner has offered one acre on one side of the road and 180 acres on the other side of the road for use by Camp Casey"

http://198.65.14.85/News/2005/31-40/33news11.htm

(180 acres!!! Woodstock 2005 becomes a reality!!!)

That's enough space to set up the cemetary with the true number of troops killed in Iraq, which keeps growing every day.

Oh, and this part is great too....ah sweet justice...

"According to sources out here, the man suspected of running over the crosses with a truck hails from McLennan County and is 55 years old. He was apparently apprehended after he got a flat tire. One of the crosses was apparently stuck in a tire."

Gandhi, they'll eventually tire of beating you down and face you. Bush burying himself by ignoring his actions, it's time for accountability and dignity to be restored to the WH, get a real American to lead this country, impeach little w.
