Hate Crimes stem from an effort to hurt or intimidate people of certain protected classes, be they age, race, national origin, religion or (in some cases) sexual orientation. So in other words, if someone robs a store at random and calls the clerk a n*****, it's probably not a hate crime. But if he conspires to rob a n***** because he hates black people and doesn't want them to work in that neighborhood, it might be a hate crime.

8. I hate Hate Crimes.

Other than the Bush Administration, Neo Cons, Al Qaida, and other religious zealots. Who else commits crimes in the name of Love? Is Rape really a love crime, Could it possibly be a hate crime, or is it just a crime? Hate can be a motive for a crime. But is not a crime it's self.

I find it ironic that some of the very folks that will usually embrace the idea that a symbol like the flag--or a cross in this case--are nothing more than the material it is crafted from, suddenly throw themselves headlong into the idea that it is, indeed, a "sacred object." Simply because it has the potential to further their agenda.

Sounds strangely familiar, actually.
