"This is Bush Country"
these guys are so stupid, it hurts.

Texas isn't "Bush Country"

One of the * supporters in Texas uttered that dumb remark.

Watching PBS Newshour with Joan Walsh, talking about Cindy.

1. Actually, it's close to Austin
Which is distinctly NOT Bush country. These right wing idiots are too stupid to vote. I think we should put back in a voter literacy test, but this time make it REAL tricky for wingnuts. "The president is subject to the rule of law, true or false?" "BLANK has the power to declare war." "It is legal or illegal to leak the identity of a covert CIA agent to the media or anyone else not having a Top Secret clearance, true or false?" You can make up your own. The wingnuts will all flunk.

4. I'm a Texan and this lout does NOT speak for me.
Did you notice how that jerk manipulated the time during the interview and had the last word? We will be disadvantaged, until we learn how to use this ploy as well.

5. They have no idea what idiots they are either
The man who ran over the crosses is an excellent example of their shining stupidity. His hateful act of violence did nothing but get more press for Cindy's cause and show how rabid and hate filled he was.

7. Bush's supporters are dishonoring him with their actions!
Let's assume, for a moment, that Bush is every bit the thoughtful, compassionate "uniter" his boosters claim he is.

Yelling threats at opponents, firing guns near them, and vandalizing their memorial, are all things which the idealized Bush would decry. He would not only meet with the parents of the bereaved, but urge his supporters to show patience and restraint, be hospitable to the protesters and attempt to win them over through kindness? Such a saintly human being would rush out to Camp Casey himself, begging everyone to desist from violence, and helping the volunteers gather up the broken pieces.

The longer this goes on, the more we see that Bush, and those who loudly support him, aren't following through.

17. why don't more people know this?
The oil stuff, the Rangers, the run against Ann Richards - it was all a setup for our current nightmare.

Hey, I need you to talk with your furry boyfriend. The SOB got a claw stuck in a door hinge this morning. I found him shrieking in pain and got shredded while I helped him extricate himself. Damn near left him there. Three inch scratch down the side of my hand.

21. what the hell is going on with these cats?
I was holding Female the other day. All of a sudden there was a huge thunder boom which frightened the hell out of her.

She clawed my hand in her haste to run away.

She only has back claws, but she got me pretty good. My hand is still hurting.

Stupid cat.

And I read about the oil stuff and other things in "Fortunate Son".

23. a scared cat is one thing.
A cat I'm trying to help - I know he was in pain already and I probably made it worse getting him out, but still - is another. Especially a cat that gets me out of bed to be let out every fricking morning between 3:30 and 5 am. I was looking up barbecue recipes during my planning period today.

Shut the door and let him pee on the carpet

Don't shut the door and let him claw my face

14. yeah - that's why this is so funny
Bush didn't move to Texas until he was in high school, then he went back East to Yale and Harvard Business School. He wanted to stay in Texas and go to UT Law School, but they rejected him.

It's all fake...the accent....the ranch...

24. I couldn't bear to watch that Fffin ahole Gaffney.....he said that
Edited on Tue Aug-16-05 07:52 PM by Gabi Hayes
people like Cindy were making it easier for the terrorists, etc.

the Salon woman didn't get much of a chance to talk while I was watching, and didn't NAIL Gaffney on his "speaking against the pres is unpatriotic BS"

was that pretty much the way it went?

thx

EDIT: why didn't she have THIS response to what Gaffney's been spewing? all she had to do was google "frank gaffney unpatriotic" to find this. didn't she KNOW she was going up against him? typical spinelessness

from Paul Krugman....

"Here's Frank Gaffney Jr. in The National Post: "Somewhere, probably in Iraq, Saddam Hussein is gloating. He can only be gratified by the feeding frenzy of recriminations, second-guessing and political power plays. . . . Signs of declining popular appreciation of the legitimacy and necessity of the efforts of America's armed forces will erode their morale. Similarly, the enemy will be encouraged."

Well, if we're going to talk about aiding the enemy: By cooking intelligence to promote a war that wasn't urgent, the administration has squandered our military strength. This provides a lot of aid and comfort to Osama bin Laden — who really did attack America — and Kim Jong Il — who really is building nukes."
