Cindy Sheehan has the "hit dogs barking" all across the U.S.
Edited on Tue Aug-16-05 07:31 PM by David Zephyr
Ann Richards, with her lovely Texas drawl said it best back in 1988: One can always tell when one has hit the target...because "the hit dog is barkin'".

When a moronic and angry Texan Bush supporter resorts to actually mowing down a makeshift memorial of crosses and flags to our fallen American soldiers in a cowardly act in the dark cover of the night, we can all know beyond any doubt whatsoever that the tables have not only turned, but have been turned over.

Make no mistake about it folks, Cindy Sheehan has hit the bullseye and she has the entire Republican National Party in a sweaty panic about how to react to what Maureen Dowd has correctly called her 'absolute moral authority'.

Can you hear it? Cindy Sheehan's fingernails are slowly scratching down upon the nation's proverbial blackboard making everyone of us squirm and deal with this catastrophic clusterfuck called the War in Iraq. Those fingernails will not allow a moment's respite of distraction.

Cindy makes all Americans sleep badly at night. As we get into our nice comfortable beds each evening, before we tuck ourselves in, we know that she's down there in the Texas heat and humidity in a ditch on the side of a road grieving for her son and for all the forever lost lives in George Bush's war.

And more than anything else, this single woman has peeled off all the slick public relations packaging around the President revealing him to the deepest part of our collective American psyches as one of the greatest cowards in our nation's history.

He's afraid of a grieving mother.

Thank you, Cindy! You put us all to shame.

Compare to our conduct during the Schiavo hysteria.
Edited on Tue Aug-16-05 07:01 PM by JDPriestly
We did not plow trucks into the shrines the Schiavo worshippers erected outside her hospice. We did not desecrate or disturb the right-wingers when they were demonstrating about something they cared about. Compare.

These right-wingers are insane. They don't respect the rights of others feelings much less expressions. Must make awful parents.

Shrub doesn't know what to do when he's faced with a person who seeks the truth. It's a foreign concept to him.
She has singlehandedly forced Shrub to show his true colors for the entire world to see. I am in awe of her strength and her courage.

Peace.

8. She absolutely is the "absolute moral authority" AND she is the
bellweather on how LOW THE REPUGS WILL GO;smearing a Gold Star Mother is just about the lowest thing I have ever heard or read about in my life

Anyone who smears her or any Gold Star mother hasn't got a decent bone in their body

And when they do smear her they show their values all right, bright as neon that Bush is the second coming of the Furher, the Leader, who can do no wrong

Sick, twisted and I'm ashamed to say roughly 30% of Americans fit that bill

39. stop gloating
Though I agree in point with the message sent by Cindy I have to say in kind that the story is getting marginalized in all the newspapers I see and there are in truth not nearly enough supporters who have rallied to the cause down in Crawford. I heard there were 100 down there last night. If this progressive movement is to get real there needs in fact to be 100,000 in number down there. I don't know what it is going to take to get people out from behind their monitors and T.V.s and down onto the street. Think of it this way. Had this been 65' and their was a lynching of a black man in Texas, King would have amassed ten thousand minimum to march with him and sit-in. No question. We need to get alot better organized and other leaders need to emerge. This is really at this juncture the only way to counter the kind of committed facism we see spreading thru every level of our government. The Government has been overthrown. The vote was obviously fixed and crooked; the clown at the helm is an imposter and a psychopathic serial killer. You don't face down this kind of power with a hundred people and a back page story. It is foolish to gloat. I am sorry to be a kill joy but I had expected that there would be a groundswell of mothers and regular people joined by a large contingent of activists, veterans and even a healthy dose of Democrats down there by now. So what is it going to take? I fear more radicalization. In the late 60s, thousands would pour out to protest the war then with less and less provocation. We are not at all seeing that now. Most people seem content to consume and obey and behave as droids in the Empire. Anyone have any idea what it is going to take?

I am quite sure an attack on Iran is being planned A.S.A.P. This is the bush temperment. To strike out in rage when perceived as weak. They will manufacture reasons ofcourse but they will spend much less time trying to sell this next horrible invasion and killing field. Will people rise up en masse then? I have my doubts. What is it going to take for people to say "enough madness, we will not continue until you stop."

46. I disagree with the headline of your post.
but you do make some valid points at various spots within your post.

However, I must take you to task for attempting to derail people's enthusiasm.
We have had a long period of depression and fatalism about the cause of antiwar, I for one do not begrudge anyone for "gloating" as you call it.

If Cindy Sheehan is the catalyst, or the watershed moment, it is ONLY because a lot of hardworking people have been working hard and not getting anywhere. Is it wrong for them to "gloat"? I dont' think so.

Further, it is like when they hit a building with the wrecking ball 10 times before it comes down. Does the tenth hit do all the damage? or rather do all the swings do their own part to weaken the structure and the tenth puts all the efforts together.

This week, Der Papst ist hier. There are THOUSANDS of Catholic teenies running "wild and loose" in the streets. A moment ago 30 teenies passed by outside my window and I asked where they were from. I didn't capiche until one of them told me in German!!! :silly: I screeched out the first verse of their national anthem and they all started screaming and raised their hands with the peace sign.

17. You should of seen G. Gordon Liddy on with Huffington on CNN
during Zaun's rightwing fawning show. He was foaming at the mouth and spouting what might be my favorite wingnut shill muttering-"That's a gratuitous assertion and like any gratuitous assertions it can be gratuitously denied." <stare maddeningly in the camera, like a bald version of the Nicholson poster for the shining as the segment segues into commercial> cut

That gratuitous assertion was Huffington responding to Liddy's slandering of Greek immigrants and her quoting Bush's approval ratings. Oh it was comedy central right there on CNN-bring on the Daily Show cameo starring G. Growling Liddy. Cindy had this guy's panties more than in a bunch, she ripped them off of him and stuffed them down his throat-and there is nothing more fitting to happen than for that to happen to such a gentleman. Don't you think?

It was great.

We all must forge on with the civility, compassion, tact and tenacity that Cindy has shown. Let the dolts like the guy in the truck prove that they're the ignorant jerks that they are. It's becoming a lot easier for us... they're doing part of our job for us. Instead of us having to point out so many of them, they're doing a fine job of showing their asses all on their own! Of course they have a great example to follow with the biggest one of all, riding his bike and "working hard"!

A month ago, I found that I was getting more distressed with each passing day as I sat here and waded through our DU posts. I now have hope and strength thanks to Cindy Sheehan!

Cindy is a shining light of truth, integrity and compassion. She has shown the world what true humanity is all about!

She slaps the Evil Rethugs square in the face by showing the world that true humanity has absolutely NOTHING to do with the crapola the Bushbots spout when they talk of "right to life" and "moral values" and "compassionate conservatism"!
