they get more Republican and are more likely to buy SUVs. I don't know how to do the proper snipping of an article. This is from a sociology study at Cornell

4. I wonder how one's feelings about guns factors in?
What kind of personality type needs an assault rifle or keeps a pistol in their briefcase?

3. Male ego and Macho insecurity
The bully ego,it's a problem in bully boys and bully girls that creates a problem for everyone else around them.It manifests itself differently in gender sometimes but when it rears it's ugly head it's SO ugly.

Teach your children to not desire to be a bully, dominator, teach them that they are not entitled to anything other than what is in this life as if they were "speciaL"or worth more beyond all other people, teach them winning is not everything and it does not mean you get anything or are entitled to power if you do win, than when they grow up they won't be arrogant assholes when they fear failure and be disappointed when the world fails to deliver whatever it is they assume they were owed..
It means your kids will become adults.Real adults not 4 year old bully boys in adult bodies trying to be the biggest bad ass that ends up just being an asshole showing his ass.

5. These "masculinity-threatened men" suffer from LDS...
little dick syndrome. The littler the dick, the bigger the SUV.

Now, before I offend anyone here who happens to drive an SUV, I will be the first to acknowledge that there are perfectly legitimate reasons to drive one that have nothing to do with your "manhood" or lack thereof. (My sister-in-law has 5 kids - a Focus just wouldn't work for her.)

Men overcompensate when their masculinity is threatened, Cornell study shows
By Daniel Aloi

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Threaten a man's masculinity and he will assume more macho attitudes, according to a study by a Cornell University researcher.

"I found that if you made men more insecure about their masculinity, they displayed more homophobic attitudes, tended to support the Iraq War more and would be more willing to purchase an SUV over another type of vehicle," said Robb Willer, a sociology doctoral candidate at Cornell. Willer is presenting his findings Aug. 15 at the American Sociological Association's 100th annual meeting in Philadelphia.

"Masculine overcompensation is the idea that men who are insecure about their masculinity will behave in an extremely masculine way as compensation. I wanted to test this idea and also explore whether overcompensation could help explain some attitudes like support for war and animosity to homosexuals," Willer said.

In a separate study, Willer verified that support for the Iraq War, homophobia and interest in purchasing an SUV were all considered masculine by study participants.
