2006 election: how to keep Dems from hiring Shrum-bum consultants?

While a lot of the republican victory in 2004 can be attributed to smear campaigns, appeals to prejudice and ignorance, and of course vote rigging, I couldn't help but feel my campaign contributions to Kerry were a bit like pissing down a hole in the ground.

Kerry gave some great speeches, but his commercials were lame, and while he said a few on point things during the debates, he was deferential and almost effeminate in his treatment of Bush, who a halfway aggressive, non-brain dead opponent could have ripped a new asshole.

I want to support Democrats in 2006, but I am concerned that they will hire the old school Bob Shrum, DLC, forgive-me-for-not-being-a-republican limp ass campaign consultants who will waste our money on inoffensive and ineffective tactics.

Howard Dean seems to be trying to prevent this by highlighting that Paul Hackett nearly won in a conservative district by slamming Bush hard and being an unapologetic democrat.

But what can we do to ensure that these guaranteed loser campaign consultants only job is cleaning up the horse shit after the victory parade?

4. 2006 is going to be much different than 2002

Many of the Paul Hackett types will be coming out. This is why you should try to find out who the nominee's are before you vote and really really research them and see if they have a past in politics and whatnot and what they stand for.

For some reason, we believe that politics dictates society when it's the other way around. 2002 was no one's fault but Al Qaeda's. There was NOTHING we could do to maintain power at that point.

But... 4 years, an ill-begotten war, 1800 soldiers dead and many Iraqis, we finally have a leg up.

The Bidens and other Democrat enablers of Bush put stink on the party that will be hard to wash off.

The Brits had vocal MPs opposing Blair on this, even in his own party.

We had congressmen and senators more concerned about staying in the feeding trough than telling the American people the truth.

I just want to know how that's even POSSIBLE, considering the absolutel corruption of Imperial Voting Systems and the absolute failure of our System of Checks and Balances, stemming from the Democrats' inability to fight for us or for Free America against Imperial Monsters?

Seriously, the only way to avoid this fate is to essentially give up on the Washington Democrats and instead focus on the state parties.

Conservatives took over the Republican Party over a significant time period. They did so by becoming an ideologically coherent party, and building their base around specific themes, and then developing the infrastructure needed to reinforce their message. Liberals seem to think that they can ignore all of this and just count on disaffection with the Republicans combined with a rather incoherent and inconsistent message, and they'll still win.

Well, The Dems might win a few elections, but there won't be any sizable shift in national politics as a result. It won't happen until the Democrats start offering up real alternatives to Republican policies instead of the same old wishy-washy pandering crap that comes out of the Beltway. The best place to cultivate those alternatives -- and future leaders -- is in the states.

like Quinn Gillespe who work for both parties and helped run both the Bush Campaign and Kerry Campaign. Talk about conflict of interest. Then we wonder why they keep winning.
