I will do it. Will you?
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 01:40 PM by Marnieworld
Cindy Sheehan has asked us to hold candlelight vigils tonight. Moveon.org is organizing them and at this moment it looks like there will be over 1500 organized vigils. The closest vigil to me is 7 miles from my house at 7:30pm. I work until after 5 with a 45 minute commute with the vigil I won't be able to unwind until close to 9pm I imagine only to get up at 6 tomorrow and start the grind again. Waaaaa! Poor me.

After letting myself procrastinate and debate with myself about registering because of this inconvenience I finally sickened myself to actually do something. So much of the time I wish that there was something to do and when I get a chance I get lost in apathy? Not today. Not anymore.

I was wishing last week that I could be in Crawford. Cindy Sheehan is a hero, an inspiration, a force of hope within all of this horror. This woman is camping in the wilderness, crying out to the world demanding answers. Why are we still at war in Iraq? What is this "noble cause" that her son died for? Her very presence highlights his presence in Crawford while soldiers continue to die and kill. She can't "go on with her life" why should he? We need to stand up and say why has this happened? We need to stand up and demand that the senseless killing should end now. We need to stop letting vague, empty rhetoric justify bloody horrific death by the thousands. Cindy is in the desert heat asking us to stand with her. This woman is doing so much for all of us and if she is asking something of us we should do it if we are at all capable. I can't get to Crawford but I sure as hell can get 7 miles away on a Wednesday night. It is truly the least we can do for all of the Caseys still there. So I will do it, will you?

Incidentally I will be at the Carbon County Courthouse in PA tonight. Anyone nearby? Please come.

3. I think you should go anyway
People will most likely not show up even if they register. How could there be a limit to support?

6. I want to but can not.
I am cramping and the cramps are worse than you can imagine. I had planned on it but I honestly would be bent over and moaning with agony just like I was last night. I am doing my own candlelight vigil next weekend though and I know I will be in good shape by then.

sure, can you send some over the internet? Hubby will be home soon with some. Goodness knows my Tylenol just is not helping. I am going to go lie down with a heatwrap right now. Ugh!

8. Hey I've been there sister
Cramps suck big time. If you can't then you can't. I just know that I personally was avoiding for selfish trivial reasons and I wanted to kick some people off of their apathetic asses. I won't judge you if you can't make it just like if we can't go to Crawford or DC at the right times we shouldn't be judged. Light a candle in your window and meditate on peace. Oh and take some advil. ;-)

just can't get out and drive although hubby is bringing some home to me. The first two days are just the worst! Although I knew it was coming - I cried all last night over the greatness of Camp Casey! Just try and stop me from crying- right now you can't!!!

You'll be there in spirit most definitely. It sucks how your period can make you super weepy too. Not like there isn't a shortage of reasons to cry lately.

37. See your OB-GYN
There are prescription medications available for severe cramps (non-narcotic). I suffered for years before finding that out (missed days of work almost every month).

11. Rock on you!
I'm sure some people will be there. Whether they are there for the vigil is a different story. I imagine in Manhattan it may grow as people realize what is happening. I would love it if they organized a weekly vigil as long as Cindy is holding hers.

No one is going to stop you. The move-on page asked us to invite others which many did. Not all have computers, but many have said they will come.

My vigil has room for 800+. We got a church.
